That's what I think it was too.
Air pockets were a big fear of mine, but I wasn't sure if I should dip them in water. I did dip them in water though; I don't know if that was right.

Our next attempt will be with bigger plants and instead of top working the plant, maybe do a side graft onto a bigger branch.
The Mystery plant that was to be used as the host is doing fine; minus one of the mains.IMG_0561.jpg
I will continue to grow this as a root stock plant.

There was probly a gap between the stems. Need to do a lil cleanup work around the area next time dip it and "paste" then tape.

Yes the wax seamed to work great.

In the article that Figong posted they used, "Grafting Wax", I think CheechZS might have a good idea with the Bees wax.

What went wrong?
1: The location and size of the graft were too hard to work with making a good connection very difficult.
2: I also think the cutting was left off of the plant too long because of the difficulty of grafting.
3: I'm not sure if I should of dipped the cutting in water. This could have created a water barrier between the cambial layers, causing a failed connection.
4: Original splice graphed had to be reworked to configure a cleft graft. I did not do this very well, again; possibly causing the misalignment of the cambial layers.
5: I did not have a humidity dome or bag set up to place over the top of the cutting.

Our next attempt will be a little bit better.

Yes.
That's why I think doing a side graft with bigger braches will be a little easier, because there is not so much clutter going on in the branches.
I'm also not too sure that that rootstock plant was big enough to graft onto yet. We should have a lot better luck when she gets a bit bigger.

Wow, am impressed! You're already doing planning for the next one, and have been reading too! +rep!

Thanks for the rep Figong.
I have been reading. I'm already into chapter 7 I think, "Plant Cell Structure', besides the article you posted.
I only read the article once, but I remembered most of it thanks to the 2 or 3 brain cells that still work, because that link has been down for a couple of days.

What about you Figong? Make ant mutants lately/

Not yet, nope.. am waiting on a blue spruce rootsystem to develop for the project and it's behind schedule even though it's guzzling up light and water / nutes like mad. That said, Plant cell structure is a solid start, are any books you can find on plant physiology - that's the all-encompassing shot at everything related to a plant, no matter what type it is which will benefit you greatly later when you start to play with others, or decide to do indoor veggies during the winter time, as an example. :)

Thanks for the rep Figong.
I have been doing allot of reading and will probably be hitting you up soon.
The grafting link you posted has been down for a couple of days by the way. I only got to read it once; I guess it stuck, mostly.

Edit; I thought I deleted it?

Well damn, lucky for us I downloaded the PDF then... hahaha, will have to toss it up with a new / fresh link soon. No problem re: the rep, well deserved :D

Yea, I have no idea why I did not download it?
haha, no idea.. but I can either put it up on something file sharing-based, or email it.. whichever you prefer - just need to wait for the wireless drivers to finish downloading as I'm doing massive driver updates to the windows 7 partition that hasn't seen updates/patches in over 6 months.
