Depends on the solvent. If we are talking butane, for oleoresin, I evaporate the visable butane away using hot tap water bath, before vacuuming off the rest.

For AA, I cold boil off the alcohol, so it goes into the vacuum chamber as is.

If you didn't catch that...a vacuum chamber is pretty important to a NQA purge, makes you feel better seeing the gasses bubbling out. If you want to further the quality of your BHO look into "winterizing" to remove other things harmful to your lungs.

ya i use tane and use the same method as u do faded. but my pump only hits 26.7 hg is this bad and if so why. and can you tell me a good pump to get one that is proven to hit full vac cuz mine is not hiting 29

and can you re-explain what is and how to deadhead plz

It takes more heat and time to purge at 26.7" Hg, which changes the nature of your extract through decarboxylation and conversion of THC to CBN.

I have had my best luck with our CPS VP6S 6.2 cfm single stage vacuum pump.

You can dead head your pump by attaching one end of the evacuation hose to your vacuum pump, and the other end to a gauge, with nothing else in the line. The pump should be able to reach full vacuum with nothing but the hose and gauge to evacuate. If it doesn't, you either have a leak in the system, or a defective pump.

another way I test my pump (kinda) is to get it to pull against a closed valve... nothing will happen and it makes a sound. then open the ball valve... the pump might change sound (if its able to pull more air out of the chamber). but sometimes it sounds the same as when its pulling against a closed valve, which makes me think its pulled as hard as it can for now (until something in the chamber de gasses)

deadhead is a very simple concept. google it if ya dont understand!

I bought this pump for 105$ shipped and it works good.

edit: used to be 105$.. .cant find them that cheap anymore. weird

yeah not sure about the micron thing.

I got a 1/3hp single stage 5 cfm and it pulls 27.5" for me when 27.8 is my max.

thats a 2 stage 5 cfm so id imagine it pulls even harder.

the pump you linked is only 75 microns i read its supposed to be minimum 50 micron

There is no need to pull below 29.8" Hg and if you pull too low, you boil off the THC. Check out this chart, courtesy of Skyhighler on another forum:

so what micron do you recomend

No need to pull into the micron level, when about -29.5" Hg will purge the solvent. There are 760,000 microns to an atmosphere, and 29.92" Hg, so inch of mercury would be about 25401 microns.

-29.5"Hg would be about 10, 670 microns remaining atmosphere.

Up to this point, I have been pulling to -29.9" Hg, but after discovering THC's boiling point under vacuum, changed to -29.5Hg to preserve them.

PS: My single stage pump pulls to 65 microns and two stage to 25 microns, so I am venting a slight amount of air into the chamber from the backfill valve, to keep the pressure in the desired range.

I thought the same thing after hitting enter.

theres gotta be a way to either

1: get a hose on the pump exhaust to run outside. (my exhaust is a 1.5" threaded hole. very easy to attach something to)

or 2: (which might effect vacuum) is to put a very long hose on it, and an extension cord, and put it outside, while your chamber is inside with you. no noise, and no fumes, pump stays cool (for me)
