Chronikool’z LED + Organic + SOG + Party cup perpetual ‘boxes of fun’ grow!™

so help me out. I'm still reading and researching but you've said a few things in this thread that I'd like to understand better. You said something about a cool white push at some stage of your grow (within flowering). I've heard about 660 deep reds for finishing, and I've read about 730 far reds used to help the plants flip faster allowing for 14/10 light schedule in flowering. I've also seen SDS claiming 660 wasn't necessarily needed and might be harmful. Is there any consensus? So if I were making my LED setup configurable, I might consider pushing CW when? 660 when? And has anyone used 730nm besides the induction guys with the pontoons?

I put the cool white (i class cool white as 5000-8500k (or higher)...this differz between whoever you talk too) in the middle of my flowering enclosure. (week 4-6) My thinking is that it actz as a 'veg boost' to my plantz to help replenish their leaves so they can store nutes for the 'final push' of flowering....this is untested by me as of yet. As my plants are under this cool white i also do a 'nitrogen boost'.

Right...so the 660nm at the end of flowering.....yes i am working on 2 x 660nm bars which are made up of 5 x 3w 660's on each...so 30 theoretical watts total. Im still waiting for my driver to turn up. So the way i plan to use them is as a supplement...i dont want to bombard them with 660nm (it is around 10-12% of my total flowering watts) These bars will be placed at weeks 8-10...or maybe sooner depending on what the plants are doing.

I dont have much thought on the 730nm.

So yeah this is what i am doing....and i think it is working so far. :)

SDS decided to put osram oslons 660nm in his new panels that he built, so that may say something;-) NW(4500-5500k)/630/660 should be a good combo for veg->>flower, if going for minimal wattage I would dump the whites and add a "few" 460nm blue.

Running 730nm is tricky because it needs to be on a separate timer IMO.....but you could just use a FR led bulb on the cheap.

Yip... (nuff said) :)

thanks for the details - helps me to understand your line of thinking.

I think I'm going to order some custom panels from merryday168 for supplemental lighting. Amongst other things I'll probably make a mini 730nm pontoon so I can try my hand at 14/10 flowering. They sell 3x1w 730nm for $18 I think.

No idea...i dont use PH meters or thermometers... :)

Actually this is a lie....i have worms (from my bin) that have happily made a home in the soil...still there after 8 weeks (veg + flower so far) so for them to still be there i think the soil must be between 6.0-7.0

Now there is a meter that never breaks... :D

I believe the phrase is, "Shocked Monkey is Shocked"...

How...? What...? But...?
When I've used bubblers, if my pH was 6.0, NOTHING would take... I would have to lower the pH to 5.5 before I'd get roots (after 3 days)...
I am stunned... But I'm starting to get used to that with all the master growers on RIU. I just sit back in awe...

Bahahaha...that has to be the best reaction to one of my posts.....:)

Nah i done use any meters in my grow rooms or my cloning bubbler....having said that....if i want to 'tune in' my grow in time..then i probably will have too.

3 days to get roots....now that is impressive....i have to wait 6 days usually.

But you'll have to go elsewhere for a master grower....i prefer doing thingz that people say cant be done... :D

Just about to purchase one of these 'Cree' warm white XPG's to try out....will report back when i get them....A few closer photos in the mean time... :)

Chroni you should put the 660nm bars in asap, Ive noticed no adverse affects to "too much" 600nm (which my setup definitely has :D)

I know right! The driver was supposed to be here already...and the plan was introducing 660 at day 43 (start of week 6)...plan thwarted! hope i get it before day 50.....

Just thought i would put up a few photos of my topping and getting it early. (i top 3 days out of the cloner)

One of the 2nd batch....4 weeks 12/12 today (This is a Purple Haze) 4 even heads to develop buds on....much better then my oldest 12/12's

The majority of my 1st batch (now 6 weeks into 12/12) werent topped (correctly) and i just ended up doing LST on them....

Pffffftttttttt 1700lm with 50w!....................how about 1769lm with 15w!!!!http://www.cree.com/led-components-and-modules/products/xlamp/arrays-directional/xlamp-mkr beginning of the END of HID...........

You''l be seeing these soon in a horti led panel ;-)

I know, 1700 is weak, (and @ 1500ma WTF?), but it's really more a proof of concept chip to me. And does anyone know if we can order a custom set of whites from CREE? I so want their tech but with peaks in our respective areas. Get some yellow in there, push down that green, bump those blues and reds in better spectrums and BLAM the best growing diodes on the planet. Be the ugliest light they make, but the plants will love it. How many do we have to order? 20,000? 30,000? Anyone live in a state where you can get some "Green" rebates? Be cool to get the gov to pay for your grow light business. LOL

Hmmmm....wonder why the lumens are so crap just because of the mixed whites?

You ordered one of these 'cree panels' yet Franjan...?

The Warm Whites that SMD uses must be shit or they need to run the the Cools a bit less. Looks like they're slightly larger WWs and smaller CWs so they were at least smart enough to not just use anything, though results seem weak.

Got my Warms but the drivers are only 900 and but should have been 1.0, and my Cools are God knows where. Not too worried though. Should have some time to do some testing and setup their temp homes this weekend. Maybe next weekend because of the CWs.

Thats the 30w xpe's yeah? You think they are legit crees?

On a side note....i should have ordered more 660nm's.....cos i just fried a few of mine....:wall: 20 more on the way. :)

Shitty soldering's then like the newb i am....tested 5 of them only so they were below voltage of the driver output....hahaaha....should have multimetered them before plugging it in.....mweh....learning.... :)

Yup, 30 "watt" XP-E. I just went over each one and they're all working OK, I'll try getting some fV readings and such after they're wired up properly. And I have no reason to believe they're not CREEs. And please don't say the word fried to me for the next few days. LOL
