Yea I harvested mine in the beginning of oct. my bubba x uk cheese was 10-11 weeks.

It actually depends on when a man wants to harvest. I try to get it as ripe as I can with the least amount of damage. I use a scope as most people do I guess and go for 50% amber.

I have a question and I seen you guys talking about drippers. I just ran a 12 site drip system for 20 gallon pots with 360 degree 0-10 GPH heads and I was wondering if I set the heads to the slowest drip and leave them on 24/7 or open the drippers up and turn them on and water as needed ? I always do things the hard way and was gonna hand water but I know sometimes I won't have the time in the mornings to visit each individual bucket and I have a feeling by the time harvest comes it will be wall to wall with growth. I have never used drippers though. What kind of timer do you use ? All so I was gonna try to be full organic this year but with using city tap water in a drip system might make me have to go with synthetic nutes . Im gonna try Guano top dressing and see how well it feeds or if there is enough of a micro colony to break it down using tap water. Any thoughts ?

TWS, man you have a bunch of different issues in this question. I don't use a timer ,I use my stop watch to time the minutes that I water. the amount I water is figured out mostly by the heat of the day and how moist the soil is from the day before. everyday is different for me. I wouldn't say its ok to leave the drippers on 24/7 even turned down. you need to figure out how much water they need and figure out how much water you're giving. the ground should be dry in the mornings on top. I mentioned before they need a lot of water but be careful they hate too much water!

I got a lot of work to do, testing the drips, and making sure I don't over water. I already did the math, and I've calculated about 1/2 gal of water to thoroughly drench 3 gal of soil. I will base all water distribution from this calculation. I'll also drill holes in the bottoms of all pots (smart and plastic), so if they do happen to get too much water, it will drain, and not drown the roots. Whoever said gardening is a cinch, isn't doing it right, it's some real work. I've been sweatin' this past week. I have a feeling we are in for one hell of a summer, not just with heat, but pests as well.

Like nuggs said, it's all calculations to find out how much, and how often you need to water. I will be using a regular, cheap timer (vigoro brand from home depot). Seems to work well, tho I think it only has a 2 hour max for water duration time. I say go all organic! It's very interesting once you learn the basis, and how everything correlates to benefit one another. Using tap water is definitely questionable as being fully organic, it will most likely effect the biology of microorganisms in the soil.
*Also* Another thing I noticed with drip systems, you have to compensate for the water still in the lines. It's not much, but they will continue to drip (at a much slower pace) until they have drained completely.

I've considered setting up drips for my straight water mix and / or setting up gravity fed system for feeding as well. I only water twice a week even Jon the heat. I try to water stress them and have even gone 1.5 weeks and still not seen any wilting.

I believe that woot cause your grow is set-up different than mine for sure. I think I have confused some people on the water deal.
sorry if I have . What I mean by the plant getting up to 20 gallons a day is it will use up to 20 when it's 10' or so in the middle of the heat of the summer and planted in boxes/grow bags. The way you grow in the ground changes everything am I'm sure you adjust your's to it's needs that being more or less. sorry for the confusion.I'm new at this blog stuff.

I do my 30g pots in the same schedule as my in ground as well. Maybe you should cover your beds with straw to help insulate and slow down evap?

your welcome TWS just hope I havn't confused you more than before with your water situation. I've heard of people saying something about the city (treated) water in fact my brother uses it at his place but, we've barely considered it a problem with an outdoor grow. I do know when I'm down your way I can't drink that shit it tastes BAD so I can see you having a concern of feeding it to your girls. the amount you give them is never going to be the same as others. Hodge use to use sprayers like mine (that's where I got the Idea)an he would turn them way down almost like a dripper and water for a full hour everyday while moving the sprayer around to cover the dry spots. hence he didn't like getting water on the plants either. hope this helps, nuggs

You got me thinking Woot on why I seem to need so much water. never thought I had a problem with it until I started thinking that I'm washing out my nutes by watering everyday. You don't think the straw will create mold?

You should definitely consider using mulch, especially with this heat we will be facing this year. I use gorilla hair from home depot (shredded redwood), it will help retain moisture 10 fold than without.
