400w HPS Heat Problem, HELP!

Recently i upgraded from a 150w hps to a 400w dimmable hps with a basic wing reflector
and the heat is horrible in my grow area (32" x 32" x 63" Tent)

Information:
The temps are around 82F to 95F inside the tent, while its around 70F to 75F in the room the tent is in.
(this is with the
wing reflector... a 6" booster fan for exhaust... and a single 11" x 3" passive instake vent)

So i was wondering if i replace the wing reflector with a cool tube, and have the 6" booster fan
pulling from one end and exhausting out the top of the tent (leaving the other end of the cool tube open)

would it make much of a difference in my temps?

I like having a passive intake (no fan to waste electric on) so if i can do it this way that would be great!

Cool tube will help..booster fans suck..look at a centrifugal and exhaust out of the room.

honestly i dont see the point in using a centrifugal with a cool tube if im not using a carbon scrubber... not to mention i don't have the money to buy one
after the cool tube is paid for so that leaves a fan upgrade out.

Also, i asked if the way i described in my first post would work enough, i didnt ask for people to suggest that i spend more money, because for THAT same reason
i now have almost a thousand dollars invested in a weed garden.

not to sound like an a-hole but when ever i post here i never get told what could help my situation, i just get told to upgrade (which IS NOT an option for some people like myself)

i asked if a cool tube + the 6" booster fan would make a difference compared to the basic wing reflector if i get it and set it up in the way i said in my first post... i didnt ask about a new fan or any of that, can we stay on topic please?

its not extremely hot in my tent, i would just rather drop the temps a little and right now its just a wing reflector (cool tube is on the way)

the question is will a cool tube reflector, connected to the 6" booster fan pulling the air through the cool tube, and out of the tent
cool it better than just having the fan sitting in a vent hole in the top of the tent pulling out (with the basic wing reflector)

your answer to your question . the way a pro sets it up. a hose from out side of the tent has a fan hooked to it its BLOWING ! not sucking air. it will over eat the fan. sucking . the tube gets air from out side the tent and hooks to your cool tube and the outher side of the tent a hose hooks up dumping the hot air out. so suck cold air in and dump out. the tent can stay sealed. and you can add co2. 1 600 watt light . 250 cfm min will be fine. the bigger the better . 500 would be best, the tent will be nice and cozy for your little girl friends,

how much air does your "Booster Fan" push out?(CFM) .. and where does this exhausted air go?
160CFM free air... it goes into the room the tent is in (air filter in the room and the room is air conditioned in the summer)

basically the only thing i need to do is get the hot air away from the light and out of the tent

i guess my last resort until i get it figured out is to dim the ballast down to 200w or 300w.

good thing i went with the dimmable i suppose...

screw it... ill buy a new fan now... the cooled reflector can wait since im sure just the upgraded fan will keep it a little cooler for now

Did you basically just bitch at everyone for telling you to upgrade. Then all of a sudden say screw it time to upgrade. GL with your grow boss. I sure everyone will be eager to help you again. GL with the grow

haha....look I know it sucks to find out it is going to cost you $1,000.00 to get a proper set up. Yes a cool tube would lower the temps in your tent strait up, but don't think your going from 95 to 85.....I did the same thing as you when I first started and the hydro guys said oh yeah you will be back to get what you need as soon as you figure it out. I run a 400 with ducted hood and 4" 160 CFM inline fan ducting hot air out into attic. That did cool my temps quite a bit I went from temps like you described to a pretty constant 80. I wish I would have gone with a 6" hood and bigger CFM fan. That would be a cheaper alternative for you....if you live close to a hydro store or look online you can get a new hood for cheap. If you in this far you can't skimp out now! I wasn't happy about the upfront costs but at least I did not have to go back and upgrade and upgrade....your first two grows will pay for your investment.

1. dont get smart with me, you have no clue about whats going on in this thread... i asked 1 simple question "will the setup i listed work" and everyone ignored that question and started popping off talking about buying new this and new that... my question was NOT what to buy, i just wanted to know if it would work.

2. before you get smart with me about bitchin at people, i suggest you get a grip on whats going on first... bottom line.

hows that for bitchin?

and if you read the other posts youll see i said i DO NOT have money for an upgrade, i had to choose between a new hood or a new fan!

i broke down and bought a 6" hydrofarm inline fan (400cfm) instead of a new hood... i figured getting more heat out NOW is more important than getting a new hood.

took the money i had for a hood and bought the fan instead to keep it a lil cooler until i get a new hood, then once i get the hood it should drop temps even more.

makes sense right?

And you have no way of cooling a single 400 watt bulb?
Dude, I had to. No offense, lol. We all have to start, and learn somewhere... BUT..
For that money I'd have a 4x8 tent, Full hydro system, two 1000 watters in cooltubes exhausting nicely with decent temps.

Yeah, you need a cooltube, fan, or AC.
AC is going to cost you as much as the 400 watt light in electricity to run.
Passive intake and a cooltube is wishful thinking. Once you put the tube in there you are pretty much doubling the surface area that the bulbs radiant heat will warm up. Passive exhaust simply will not exhaust heat as fast as the bulb, reflector, and cooltube will put it off.
A cooltube and fan is the cheapest, and best solution to your problem.
Run your lights at night.

Hope this helps.

Peace.

Im in the middle of an upgrade... the 400w being the upgrade

$1000 including everything from the last setup aswell... but anyways

yeah i got the lights only running at night (which does help a LOT imo.

from what im gathering all i should need now is a ducted hood and a speed controller.

i chose the 19" cool tube with the full sized wing reflector on it from HTG... so pairing my new 6" inline with it should put me in the zone i need to be at if done correctly right?
