Hey guys, time for another update.

I 'lowered the lamp again. What lowered? Yes lowered :D I added a fan to the hood to cool it a bit, works 'ok', and I still get the ambient heat, but also added a 'Topshield Pro Spreader', different from the one on an Adjust-a-Wing but similar purpose: to remove the hotspots directly below the lamp allowing the lamp to be lowered significantly in addition to more uniformly spread/diffuse the light. Currently not running the fan, and only one of the clip fans. The problem with adding more fans is that it becomes harder to find a balance. For example, if I turn off a fan the temp rises and the exhausts starts running faster cooling it down again.

While I should be using a better reflector (no space for the one I want, Lumatek/Gavita) and I while would normally 'not' use this thing as it is bound to reduce the light, it's rather perfect for my situation:
IMG_0267.jpg

Next episode I will show an updated pic of the fat stem which looks even more like a tree now (no longer round/cylinder), the first crystals (way more on Kolossus than Liberty Haze), and the 30 yards of binding wire I use to pull it all down a couple of inches. :eyesmoke:

How well is the hotspot thing working for ya boss?! Everything lookg Grrrrrreat lol Like Tony the Tiger would tell you ahaha!
I don't know if it's the lighting tho, but the green look a little deep, like you at your limit as far as giving them N! What do you think?

Thanks guys :)

The spreader works really well to remove that hotspot directly below it. As close as 4 inch is supposedly possible (made for 600w in particular). THAT part definitely works. The diffusing also 'seems' to work, but I can't help wondering at what cost. Since my plants are so long now I need to grow colas rather than the smaller (but more) scrogg buds I'm used to. For that I need the light to penetrate as deeply as possible, but also the heat/warmth, which it obviously does less with this spreader. Just need to log temps for a few days, with diff fan combinations and lamp distances and see what works best.

I think, every time I open my closet, oww, so nice dark green :D As you can see there is quite a bit of diff between the pics too (diff cameras and light conditions) so yeah what you see is not exactly what I see. Nevertheless, they are at least near that limit. The base nutes from H&G, the A and B component are the same during veg and flower so can't strip N, but, got rez refresh planned for today (if I can find batteries for my EC meter) at week 6 12/12 (slow flowering start, will need 10 weeks at least) and they will get less base nutes now and more flower additives/boosts decreasing the amount of N relatively, so it should work out.

In reality the ones in the middle (front and back) are looking best (dark green but not too dark), the kolossus on the front right 'had' a small hint of brown in the green. Not like brown brown, but it's like an army camouflage green. The one in the front left is a runt. Pale from the start, meager flowers, should have killed her. Instead she gets very little canopy space now (a little over 1x1', not even on pics but left around the corner).

is that northern lights yous are talking about? the stuff i have had that is supposed to be northen lights was nothing special (probs a half a grower who doesnt flush or fuck all)
but think i will giv it a try in future in my perpetual FM a would like it if u followed they will all be getting lst and would love your input and thoughts on them as i go about getting this perpetual going

I wonder if I could find one of the light covers on this side of the pond...Or maybe on Amazon?! What are they called technically?
I got 10 seedlings rolling tho, and I'll start a thread here in about 2 weeks once I transplant them to 1gal pots from solo cups.
I'll be vegging them for a few weeks actually when I wasn't planning on vegging them ANY, so we'll see what we come up with lol! Hope fully even bigger yields!
But my style is as less stem/height as possible lol, so that the lights can penetrate to the max.
I think I found my niche growing really small fat budded plants lol. And I wouldn't be vegging now, but I'm moving in about a month or so, and can't move flowering plants, so I gotta veg until I can get into the new place!

Also another Q, is it warm enough ANYWHERE in NL for ppl to partake in outdoor lol? I know thats kinda random but it doesn't seem possible!
I remember damn not being able to go out with "hand shoes" lol bcuz it was aleays that DAMN COLD!

Spreader is the technical name. The one I have is a Topshield Pro spreader, part of a relatively new reflector/hood developed in NL (Topshield Pro XL-1 Reflector). Not sure if they entered the international market. But, there is also the spreader that goes with an Adjust-a-Wing, google 'adjust a wing spreader' and notice the smaller spreader in the image results. Works slightly differently (alu with holes in it to block/reflect some light), but also removes that hotspot directly below the lamp. Allows an Adjust-a-wing to be at 12" difference from canopy.

"hand shoes" I work with a lot of americans and ran into that one before. Reminds me of a 'story' about an old dutch politician visiting an old us president and the latter asked what do you do for hobbies and the dutch guy said "I fok horses" ("fok" is dutch for breeding, animals in particular).

http://www.olded.nl/Old Ed geschiedenis.html (horribly translated page) Nederwiet is from origin US weed acclimatized for the Netherlands (and improved upon for decades to get it at the quality it is now and tripple the THC level). Another outdoor strain everyone my age smoked is Purple, was grown also by one of the more known legalization activists 'Doede de Jong' (add 'wiet' and check google image search ). Back in the day many coffeeshops had at least a couple of outdoor grown on the menu, but the first ones started largely on outdoor grown weed. Last summer and this summer so far is horrible, but a good summer here is temp wise pretty good for Mj, the real problem is humidity level, both indoors, and during late summer/early fall outdoors. I've grown quite a few mj plants in gardens and balconies myself over the past decades, even a couple last crappy summer which made me pick up indoor growing again (stopped for 5 years).

I look forward to following the progress of your new run, are you going to keep a journal?

Woops, edited out too much... Missing the part where I said: I took like to keep them small normally:

Thanks for the comment budolskie :D

Since it fits canopy control cause of the scrog but involved quite a bit of manual cropping as well, figured I post a quick overview of my previous round. Sugar Punch, organic. Best run I had. Pics aren't entirely in order.

Lol the language ws backwards as hell for me the first few month lol.
But the more I practiced, the more it got better!
Cool this is SO MANY of the words are similar, that it doesn't take long to get them down, is just the building backwards sentences DAMN!
And I've got air cooled hoods for my 400 and 600. Haven't used the 600 yet, but the 400 had a hot spot just beneathe the bulb still, hence my questioning.

But I'm def. post the journal in there next few weeks bossman. Maybe 2-3wks from now.
My last journal got TOTALLY outta control and is a PAIN to look thru for anything lol as it's so many pages, so this time I'll keep it smaller!
But I'll def. drop by your page and let you know once I've started it!
Already started all the seedlings..Just waiting to journal until I get them out of "American party cups" lol.

Come on guys, let's show some of those crops!

Some pics of of 4 days ago:
22.jpg23.jpg
Kolossus:
18.jpg

Liberty Haze:
20.jpg

I removed the spreader. Seemed to be working too well and with my light so high up near the carbon filter the warmth I need (coldest May ever measure in the Netherlands...) doesn't go down far enough.

The plant in the back at the right has some of the worse buds I've ever seen. At first I thought it was the spreader or the heat, because these failed buds seemed to be spread throughout the canopy. Turned out to be all from the same plant. Actually from the 5 liberty haze only 2 plants seem to be of a good stable pheno (those in the middle). With all the messing around and adjustments to battle the stretch I slowed them down quite a bit. They are in week 7 12/12 and that doesn't show.

24.jpg

I created a hatch on the side of the closet to get to the plants in the back. Removed a large amount of branches that weren't really part of the canopy. It was still waaaay to full. Finally starting to look like something but it yield-wise I expect my worst results ever.

Some pics of today (bud is Kolossus). Added a huge amount of wire to pull'm down a bit. Got two fans blowing between the canopy and fan. Exhaust at max setting. Temps are where I want them to be (82.5) and no new signs of heat/light stress.
