Hey everyone i just have a few questions about renting a place. Ok so once i get my shit together and have a couple grand to spare, i am gonna rent a nice little apartment, but i keep hearing about inspections.

Of course i will be growing like mad perpetual harvesting every month blah blah, and for a perpetual grow some cunt inspecting you;re house is a bad idea, unless you are brave enough to carry flowering and vegging plants out an away untill the inspection is over.

What do you guys do when inspection is up, iv heard about giving the landlord some extra cash so he is happy and doesn't grass on you, but i suppose id have to see how dodgy the landlord was, maybe slip that in before i say my name lmao. i have seen some nice little apartments going for rent perfect for growing in, even spotted myself a cheap 2 bedroom unfurnished that looks nice.

Of course i want unfurnished so i can diy my stuff, somthing about moving into a house that doesnt have your own furniture seems a bit crappy to me, what if you drop a join on the sofa ur fucked by the landlord.

Im just curious about what you guys do weather you bribe ur lord of land or rush around clearing ur shit away, me im probably gonna have to find a place with no inspections, or atleast once a year, every 3 months is a crock of shit wouldn't live there if it was free ffs.

Also could you explain how you get ur shit out, do you take lights and everything down and away, or do you just pack it into boxes into a closet and hide the plants somewhere safe until the landlord has fucked off, I know many people get notices, or told dates months before the inspection. Im pretty sure you would be safe packing ur shit into boxes? the landlord has no right to go through them right? also has anyones land lord been in your house while you were not present? can they just pop in find your grow and bust you? man ill be getting new locks on the door LOL.

it really depends man its all about finding the perfect place.

i kno landlords that think they're your best friend and pop up a couple times a week like fuck off man, then theres landlords that live states away and deal with everything over the phone maybe a town house or a apartment would be a better deal.

i don't have the most experience renting i can say tho typically a renter that has multiple properties and a place in a shittyer neighborhood you dont have to worry about it too much a renter with a few properties isnt going to check in on the time will wait till your rdy to move out same standard for shitty neighborhood they almost expect you to eff up the place so they just leave you be until you leave and keep your deposit

i lived in a townhouse in the city for 2 years was a shithole but the landlord didnt stop by once he actually had the next renter come in before i left partly to check out the place but also i suspect to tell him if theres damages

Nah i took plants to my car lol i put em in rubbermaids
Not a bad idea, in the end i may just ask if there are inspections, if its in the country and the answer is yes i can live with that to throw the plants a few feilds away ur fine, if i end up in the city then yeah probably no inspections at, well its all my choice, ill just have to get the cash ready, and go around looking for the best place avalable, may even be able to get a 2 bedroom, as im seeing some nice ones for cheapish around £650 not bad.

First off you need to respect your landlord.
It's his property, not yours.
2nd, you will be signing a contract to live there.
Carefully read that contract.
Most landlords can give a 24 hour notice before they can enter the apartment.
You don't have to be home to let them in.
And NO you can not change or re-key the locks.

I wouldn't try to bribe the landlord either.
Most contracts state no drugs or illegal substances on the property.
He can lose his property if he knows people are dealing or growing there.
If you get caught dealing or od in your apartment, you are gone in 30 days.
Again, read the contract or even better, grow outdoors.

Usually when you live in an apartment, you will deal with maintenance men, pest control guy, and inspections.

Generally the inspection is the fire department or someone that works for the residency that simply makes sure your smoke detectors and fire extinguisher are working. However, some apartments (like all government assisted) also do monthly or quarterly inspections. For most places this is just a walk-through to make sure you aren't blowing up the place. I have never had them open my closets and shit. There is little to no chance of bribing a government inspector.

The pest control guy, you are going to have to specifically request he doesn't come over. Tell them you are allergic, don't believe in it, have pets (if allowed), etc.

Maintenance men are probably your biggest problem, but also most likely the easiest to bribe (although I have never tried or had to so far). Also they won't come over unless you ask them to. The best place to keep your grow is in a locked closet. Replace the door knob with a $30 Schlage lock because a lot of maintenance guys are adapt at lock picking. There is no way they will get in your closet without kicking the door in. You are not allowed to change the locks, but I'd rather get popped for changing my lock than for growing weed.

Odor control and sound is a huge priority for stealth in an apartment, since strangers will actually be coming into your unit, and neighbors can smell weed, and sometimes hear fans and air pumps vibrating.

Fish aquariums make a great excuse for sound, locked doors (quarantine tank, hazardous chems to children), and grow equipment, especially for hydro gardens.

One of the biggest things is when stealth is a priority, you cannot be lazy. All it takes is one time of being lazy and fucking up and the pest control guy comes over while you're at work and you get popped. Having dried pot leafs laying around on the floor, accidentally leaving nutes out or other grow related shit, etc.

Dont worry i will be puttin alot of time and effort caron filter carbon scubber, boxed in fans/mounted fans, rubber mats etc, could always fit a lock on a bedroom door? and have tents inside If im lucky enough to find a place with a big walk in closet (they are usualy only for big houses here) then that would be alot better.

Pest control in scotland? never even heard of them, maintenance? meh fuck it ill leave 200 on the kitchen table for them with a note just incase, but in all seriousness i dont think there are many thing like that over here, well esspecially not on a 6-700 a month rent i dont think they will have allsorts of staff only the landlord i hope. FUnny enough all the people i know who are renting ()5 or 6 peeps, none of them have house inspections, they are mostly older, one of my freinds rent but his landlord lives in the same block hence the no inspections for him.

I wouldn't put a lock on the bedroom door. If you have an inspection, they are going to want to look in the bedroom. If your grow is in the bedroom closet and you have to let them in the bedroom, your shit isn't locked anymore. Find an apartment with a good closet you can grow in and put a lock on your closet door. Remember the fish tank excuse if you ever need it. You don't have the key because it belongs to your grandma/roommate/sister.

I live in an apartment with a large walk-in closet. I removed the shelving and put a 5x3 tent in there with 4" ventilation exhausting through the wall into a bathroom. You can easily install an $8 vent cover from Home Depot and make it look legit on the bathroom side. I suspend my air pumps with bungee chords. You can build a sound box for your inline fan, or get a larger fan with speed controller to move the same volume of air at a slower speed (ie: it's quieter). Mine is just wrapped up in foam, but the foam doesn't help much. If you use air pumps, you can lightly put a small piece of foam in the intake hole. This will quiet the pump significantly and also filter air. You really don't need a big closet, any walk-in will be fine as long as you don't have to put clothes and shit in it.

Yeah iv got a plastic vent for extraction at my location im growing in now, i can allways do stuff like that as long as its drywall or somthing so i can just cover and repaint where i made holes. i would like x2 tents veg and flower you see, so it might be a little harder, my original plan was 1 bedroom 2 tents, i didnt even relise your landlord can sneak around without you there suppose ill just have to make a checklst for when i want to rent. few inspections lanlord who lives far away no staff etc.

maybe ill get a crossbow, that can be an excuse for having locks, i like the aquarium one aswell, I suppose im lucky i started growing before i rent, therefor i can choose an apartment for growing instead of being stuck with what you thought was good when you were shit and didnt grow.

thanks for the info on the larger fan with speed controller, never even crossed my mine, i may have to keep that in mind, you can mount a fan to a piece of wood then build a box around the fan, fill with builders foam and screw on the bottom, you got a buzzin wooden box half as loud as it was before.

Some great tips here-stealth is totally doable, even in an apartment with the occasional visitor. Flowering (obviously) is gonna be the big stinker, but do the math with how many cubic feet your dealing with and make sure your ventilation replaces your air every 5 minutes, make sure you have twice as much exhaust as intake, yadda yadda. But definitely learn to fix stuff around the house yourself. If you get a townhouse or apartment in a really big complex, there will be routine maintenance stuff like fire detector checks, air filter replacements, etc.

I don't think a landlord can come in without giving you notice, or without you there (laws may differ for you, tho). But just be smart, do the numbers with your ventilation/carbon filter, and try and find a place like a duplex or a house split into apartments, where the landlord owns several other properties but not enough to need official inspections and stuff. You should be good after the move in, as long as you don't have a catastrophic leak or something you can't handle.

I mean, the dude was definitely a dick about how he said it all, but you have to understand where he is coming from. You are gonna be growing in someone else's house, and it is gonna be risky. Just be sure and watch your shit, and hope that you find a landlord that burns, lol.
