How Hope and Change Gave Way to Spying on the Press

by Kirsten Powers May 21, 2013 4:45 AM EDT

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/05/21/how-hope-and-change-gave-way-to-spying-on-the-press.html

It’s instructive to go back to the dawn of Hope and Change. It was 2009, and the new administration decided it was appropriate to use the prestige of the White House to viciously attack a news organization—Fox News—and the journalists who work there. Remember, President Obama had barely been in office and had enjoyed the most laudatory press of any new president in modern history. Yet even one outlet that allowed dissent or criticism of the president was one too many. This should have been a red flag to everyone, regardless of what they thought of Fox News. The math was simple: if the administration would abuse its power to try and intimidate one media outlet, what made anyone think they weren’t next?

And of course that Ms Powers is a big rightie.^^^

This is from the New Yorker, a real right-wing rag...

Rosen was not charged with any crime, but it is unprecedented for the government, in an official court document, to accuse a reporter of breaking the law for conducting the routine business of reporting on government secrets.

Limbaugh is a capitalist pig, at least he's consistent with his ideology.

Anarchists: Pay to hear Chomsky speak on the evils of capitalism in a private auditorium, buy his latest copy-write intellectual property describing the evils of capitalism on the way out. Never see the irony.
Anarchists: peaceful people who want to change the rules and unrig the game, utopians. Working within the system to bring equality and liberty does not require violating the current laws.

I have never paid for a Chomsky book, I pirate them (theft). Have you seen his car? I think he should charge more so he can get a new one, imo he deserves it. I'm going to find a way to make a donation now, maybe I should have just paid for his books.

Oh yea, our boy wonder of a POTUS does not know anything about ANY these misdeeds.
I'm starting to think plausible deniability is part of sop for this admin team. It seems like His purpose is to deliver a speech every now and then about whatever Jarrett or Pelosi's cause du jour is.

But, they are completely non-partisan when it suits you, right?
they are completely non-partisan in that they will crunch the numbers that anyone hands to them, the thing you gotta look at is who handed then numbers to them and what assumptions were they told to make.

for example, romney's budget only worked if you assumed we'd outpace india's GDP growth. which is kinda optimistic to the point that some would call retarded. but you guys bought it, so...

i can't wait to see how many "scandals" suddenly pop up when the unemployment numbers drops below 7 and the deficit shrinks even further.

it's a good thing most americans just tune out you incessant wolf criers, otherwise i'm pretty sure they'd want the values on their homes and 401ks to tank again, instead of coming back.

you little howler monkeys and your conspiracy du jour make us all sick.

He's that too. He also feeds off of hate and fear and I have no respect for people like that.

The anarchist poster boy petitioned the government to force the airwaves to give him the same podium as Rush, and then bitched about the government because they wouldn't do as he bid. Chomsky is as big of a hypocrite as those who leave as big a carbon footprint in a month as most of us do in a lifetime while spreading the word WE need to reduce OUR footprints and they know just the legislation that will do it. Or the rich guys who bitch about other rich guys not paying their fair share while they themselves are tax cheats or battling the IRS to reduce their own.

Chomskyites are as ignorant and gullible as Limbaughites.

All ideology is ignorance. The promoters of ideology are the enemies of rationality, fact, and truth.

Post #48. Please make a note of it. I will submit that because of these scandals, actual, (to even the DEMS, they are actual)
confidence will be restored, at some point and the economy with bloom.

I'm am watching another very bi-partisan Hearing in House. Both sides are being very tough. Watched and even more outraged Senate Committee.

There will be a full and deep Supena Powered Investigation, by the Inspector General of the USA. All the ploltical sleepy head will have to wake up and watch the System at work....or not...free to sleep.

HINT: turn on CSPAN 3, nice and low...get it all subliminally?

The AG is scribbling, yessir, yessir. They just nailed Mr George with another Investigation Demand about that 5th Amendment plea yesterday. The lady began with a statement of denial and then refused to talk. The Critters beat on her for that, and then she was allowed to go. And she has been out on interviews, but plead the 5th Congress. Oh, Mr. I.G. George....here is another one.

Oh, now another, about posting personal details online....

Holy Shit.

The studies have found a correlation to hydrocodone/acetominophen combinations and rapid hearing loss, but Oxycontin contains no Hydrocodone. Limbaugh may have been abusing that substance too though.

If oxycodone (the chemical in oxycontin and percocet) caused hearing loss I wouldn't be able to hear a bull in a china shop.

So it must be hydrocodone. You can't iv hydrocodone so I never had much use for it.
