Frenchy, have you ever tried using oil in your bottle instead of water?
Say heating some oil to 250f and then once poured into the bottle, and the bottle comes up to temperature, you have A 240f bottle that will stay in the 220f to 240f range?
just a thought. Maybe you have tried and determined that oil is not a good route?
cheers!
thanks much for all the knowledge you have shared!
Well actually I have never thought about oil, definitely something to try when I have my plastic figured out, higher temp and I would be melting my freezer bag.

Hot Metal Plate at 225 + 2 ton press....you will have no control over a delicate type of operation and loose quality. If you are like me looking for quality above all else, stop thinking of short cut and more about control and precision.I'm thinking of warming up two steel plates in an oven to 225, then using a 2 ton arbor press to sandwich the bag in between them. Hold for 5-10 minutes, then reheat plates while I fold it into a new ball to press. Repeat as necessary.
Forgive me if this is a bad idea, but what do you think about pressing between large sheets of parchment paper?
keep in mind i have no experience whatsoever with whether or not melted trichomes will stick to parchment, so this could very well be a bad idea.
Just a thought.
Happy pressing frenchy!
Hey! If you're the guy with the beginning of a mold problem in his "Nepalese Temple Balls" style Hash, I already mentioned a solution for you but I will use this opportunity to share some solution to mold.god damn theres a lot of knowledge in this thread!!
frenchy, you seen my hash..
what exactly do you think I should do with it? I was planning on ripping it into smaller chunks... freeze it, as well as my hand grinder, then I can grind it up/powderize it (similar to matt rizes micro plant technique... is that good or bad?) ive done this technique before and it works very good. tons of surface area to get rid of the moisture that is in my hash. not sure if it hurts the trichomes or the terpenes though.
but then what? I just really want to make the best of this hash, and keep it soft.
