Not necessarily. Remember when the modem came out, and everyone thought "Wow this internets is advanced stuff"? There was already 'high-speed' internet available at that time, but you make more money when you reverse engineer technology. Actually, you can make infinite profit (in theory). Just stay 100 years ahead of the knowledge of the public.

There is 'evidence' out there, but who the hell is Joe Schmo to be able to access it? In a world powered by money (greed/ego), secrecy is king. It's no coincidence that an extremely small percentage of mankind owns the vast majority of the world. We have too many material obligations to go traveling the globe in search of anything, let alone hidden technology. It's the american dream; consume and obey, don't question anything.

It is extremely difficult to keep absolute secrecy about anything in this internet/information age. Not even the director of the CIA, or the President of the USA, could keep there affairs secret. These are some of the world's most powerful men. There are hoards of anthropologists and other scientists around the world who are constantly searching and are foaming at the mouth to unearth anything from an ancient 'advanced' civilization. Even the very well funded Graham Hancock, whose mission in life is to find ANY evidence of an advanced civilization, has come up with nothing after decades of searching. Why speculate about things that haven't a shred of evidence to support them?

Eh I'm really conflicted about liking that so i gotta say i kinda like it in the context of this thread purely, but there is no replacement for true innovation or critical thinking, ideas of the past are so often just that, stuck in the past...

It's easy to keep a conspiracy secret. All you have to do is create enough fake conspiracies to insure no one recognizes the true one.

There is one reason we honor various ancient thinkers. They thought of it first. No doubt they had it easy because they lived in the days before all sorts of shit had already been thought. As time goes on, we will think of fewer and fewer new ideas. Eventually our culture will stagnate as nothing new is ever thought of.

I kindly disagree. It is very easy during this information age, because that is exactly what it is - an endless sea of information to wade through; "The Rabbit Hole" accessible via the keyboard. Kervork said it right, not all conspiracies can be true, but some of them inevitably will be. Then you start reading the comment section and by the time you know it, the only thing left is an "I'm right, you're wrong" fight amongst the anonymous sea.. Not only do you have lifetimes worth of viewing material, you have access to every person's thoughts on the subject.

I believe it is easier than we think because of the relatively small percentage of the population holding the majority of the knowledge. Not a surprise that the institutional scholar can't find the truth, despite all of their learning and scholarly lifestyles - they are still being educated by (government funded) universities.

I agree very much with your sentiment here, at least as I understand it. However, I think the way you present it makes it difficult for me to just agree wholesale. Like the thing about the Aztecs, millions of people still speak Nahua and are not only of indigenous descent but also identify as Aztecs, and yes, I know a lot of them so I would answer that question affirmative, I know plenty of Aztecs.

This may be true if knowledge were simply discovered, but knowledge is also invented and is generated from prior knowledge. Humanity has acquired more scientific knowledge and technological advances over the last 200 years than in all prior history combined. And the rate at which knowledge and technological advances are being generated is not slowing but increasing (i.e. Moore's Law), and the more knowledge we have, the faster it increases. Our culture may not survive, but it won't be from boredom...
