car plug in for cheaper insurance rates..

.. i just saw a commercial on the tele about some new product that plugs into your car and lets one get cheaper insurance rates based off of their driving style..
idk what it was about this product that really rubbed me the wrong way, but are people really willing to use such a product and give their insurance co's such information on their driving habits and when and where they drive??
i know i surely wouldn't be willing to do so, and i consider myself a very good driver 99% of the time.. the thing is this weekend i went on a 4.5 hour road trip, and was speeding well over the speed limit most of the time while on the major highways.. mind you if i weren't, i'd be getting run over by the rest of the speeding traffic.. would my rates now go up because of one weekend that occurs once a year or so that involves my speeding?? what if i were to go to say nyc, would my rates go up because they'd say i parked the car in a high theft area?

idk, but i can only see negative things coming from a product like this, and i for one would not be willing to give my insurance co. access to this type of info, even though like i said, i consider myself an excellent driver, in fact, i pride myself on my wheel skills.. it's a bit too big brother'ish for my likings..
thoughts, comments??

Calm yo titties man, it only keeps track of how many times you slam on your breaks, how many miles you drive, and how many hours around 4am you're using your car.
OR SO THEY SAY.
either way even if there is a camera in it, seeing as you plug it into your obd2 port, they'd most likely be looking at your crotch anyway. :D

Which part? making it rain in dolla dolla bills & hoes flocking to the dead prez pool? Or the part where it only tracks useless info that has nothing to do with being a "good driver"?

Progressive customers have the grossest cars, there's a distinct correlation between cost of insurance and the cleanliness of people's cars. >.>

I had to get Progressive for one of my kids because they had too many tickets/wrecks. But they kept the car fairly clean!

insurance doesnt help much if any. you pay 100 for a month of liability, when you could save the 600 dollars and use it when the car gets into an accident. doesn't make much sense to flush it into those peoples business when they wont fork it over. save the cash, that's true insurance.

Well that's how other people get fucked over-- by not having liability which covers if YOU hit someone. It also keeps you from getting sued for not having insurance which here, automatically pins the blame on you. (Which isn't always fair IMO)

Plus any decent body work is well over $600 unless you have the resources to do it yourself. :3 (my liability is only $50 a month with a few speeding tickets ^^; )
And honestly I used to think the same until I started working in a body shop and seeing how messy things can get lol

Until the other person you wrecked into or whatever tries to sue you, guy was trying to sue me for almost $4k for something that wasn't even my fault, but the car was under my name.
My insurance company managed to settle out of court.

You guys really pay $100 a month? I pay $180 every 6 months but I've never been in a wreck or gotten a ticket.

If you drive badly you'll pay more for insurance,
if your under 25 you'll pay more for insurance.
If your single you'll pay more for insurance.
If you have a police record you'll pay more for insurance.
