I dumped Comcast. The bills just kept going up and then I'd have to call. Hated it, oh uhmmm, I extremely disliked it. So I turned on my mobile hotspot, ordered Netflix and anything else I want to watch I just go online, then I made my own HD antenna (better reception than the store bought kind) and I'm home free. Well, almost free or at least cheaper then Comcast.

$30 hotspot
$8 Netflix

Have thought about getting a sport package for the better half. Can you order ESPN for online viewing?

Edit: Almost forgot download speed 20.45
Hahaha I did the same thing..another member turned me on to tvmuse.eu for everyday current programming like Nurse Jackie, Game of Thrones etc.

We have a monopoly in our town too and Im rebelling..

How did you make your HD antenna? Also, what are you viewing your programs on? Have you figured out how to make HDMI cable to your flat screen?

Many TV's have a two wire antenna hook up, usually black and red for spade connectors, others use coaxial cable to the Antenna. HDMI shouldn't enter in if you can wire direct to the TV's internal tuner.

I'm poor, so I just use the 3G interent on my phone. I just tether that bitch to my laptop and BAM! I can stream videos and surf the web without any problems. When I want to download torrents, I have to go to my buddies crib. He has a 10MB or 20MB download speed. The most they offer here in Louisville is 50MB cable internet. I think you pay about $60 for just the 10MB download speed. When I am downloading torrents, I top out at 1.2 M/s. That downloads anything I want in a descent amount of time. I've never seen anything over that on downloading torrents. I don't even pay for cable at my house. That's another reason why I don't get the internet other than on my phone. I paid $75 to my buddy who works for our local cable provider, and he hooked my cable up and put all of the legit color coded wires on the box. Now if my Cable provider looks at my box outside, it looks like I have phone and cable service with them. So far I have had cable for about 6 years now for $75. Knowing basic cable costs about $50 a month I guess, I have saved myself alot of money by just sticking with my free cable. Lol!

And now that you have disclosed your location and that you have free cable it will now be shut off ;)

OK. Here is how I did it. I went to youtube (gotta love'em for project ideas) and then gathered what I needed and then I just made it. Attached it to our TV and bam 20 channels. I did have to go out to a dry cleaner and buy hangers. I got 12 hangers for a $1. Plus, I bought a matching transformer from Radio Shack for $5.

Simple, simple, simple. If I can do it you can too. My hubby says it is a much clearer, sharper picture than cable.

Using my phone as a hotspot works with Netflix. No reloads, slow downs or denials.

For the usual cable channels that I watch like: A&E, TNT, etc., I use my laptop hooked up to the HDMI port on the TV and no problem. I catch everything that I wanted to watch on cable. The best part was telling Comcast to suck my...

Edit: I stream Netflix through my Roku directly from my phone. That way I don't have to turn on the laptop.

You can also make a pretty damn good antenna from just a regular coax cable. Cut the one end off and strip back the insulation exposing acouple feet of wire and just plug that bitch in and stick it up in the air.

I'm getting ripped off for my internet, but I live in an area without much choice, so I'm sucking it up and dealing with the lesser of the evils out here. TWC's RoadRunner, 15 meg down, $60.

This post is from Winter Women:

I'm having a hard time posting today and I don't know why. So I decided to answer you here. I watched this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P69KuHum7wQ then I just did it. I was so simple the only thing I would do is paint it the color I wanted first.

I made it within an hour after I gathered what I needed. Works great, I'm getting 20 HD channels-free. Would you do me the small favor of post this for anyone else that wants to make it.

Good luck if you need any help just PM me.

Thanks,
WW

hahhaahaaa figured that one out a long time ago using my cell as hotspot and then "somehow" the software one day just stopped working..called my carrier..much bullshit later..IMO..they caught on to this little "trick" with unlimited data:) HELLO!!! So they are forcing me to buy another phone if I want my "hotspot" on my phone again and surprise, surprise they want to shove an outdated i5 down my throat and are holding me to "contract" because i changed my data plan 6 months ago..bastards..so now I stopped paying my phone bill so its disconnected..beat em at their own game..lol
have google voice and "hotspot" my ipad..unfortunately there is no unlimited data with verizon ipad service and I wouldnt get the evil empires ATT version..Also, for higher DL speed I just pull into my friendly McD's, sit in their parking lot and load up..my ipad does get 4G though so i can pretty much get what I need DL for the most part.

At/t for 15mbps-- same price~ You don't need 250mbps like some (gamers) who are compensating for lack of pvp skills with bandwidth.. :hump:

(they shouldn't be able to upgrade your account without your consent)
oh no you didnt.

Thanks for posting my how to.

I didn't use an hdmi cable when hooking the computer to the tv. I just used the video and audio cables from computer to TV.
