thanks for the feedback jela and whocares lol im always here i just usually do reading and marveling. :) great work everyone is doing here. Im excited to start mixing in the rockwool and am getting ready for my first SOG setup. 1x 430w Hortilux Eye HPS in middle, 2 70w reg HPS on each side, with two dual bulb 4 foot t5s running along the whole thing. its a rectangle about 3 ft x 4.5 Ft, all on an air floor. Each hole in the floor is spaced so that it lines up with the hole on the poland springs bottle
I was looking into maybe putting two of them just Ho t5's but not sure what spectrum to add to what i have, and on the other one get a timer and some UVB bulbs, and do a three 10-minute sessions in peak hours of the day
also i potted clones in a mix of coco and clay pebbles (didnt have perlite) and theyre almost ready to get transplanted into the 3L poland springs. After that I will start poppin the Big bud seeds and then working on finding the keeper. the vertical limit for my plants is ~3.5ft so i have to make sure the big bud doesnt get too big (prolly wont inside the 3L?)

whocares I've heard mixed things. If i were you id use up the ones that arent "raw" first, so that you get the jist of using them. The raw is favorable IMO (not better, probably equal) because instead of adding a flavor you are just bringing out the natural flavor of the strain. If i were to use strawberry i'd choose strawberry diesel or something, lemon for lemon kush/haze, raspberry on a blackberry plant.
Is it just me or does your mouth water when you read that?
forgot to mention i've heard great stuff about the botanicare pure blend pro hydro organic line, great taste overall, good yields too

forgot to mention, its important to know about carbo supplements and how the plant stores and uses its carbs.
Its important in my opinion for taste and great yield to allow a dark cycle during vegetative cycle. sure it may not grow as fast but now the plant is able to store up extra carbs which will help aid it in either growing or regulating itself (if something isn't optimal)

Im sure you could give it no dark cycle in veg and get it to use the carbs correctly but things would have to be optimal for the plant, which is wicked hard to do lol

Thanks Nizza, I ordered more samples from them today...I'm getting a clone Jel, a coco grow, and a few other products...I'll report when I get them.

So when do I use this, and I don't think I have any flavored plants? I have diesel...and super cheese? and a few mazar kushes...

grape on the kush, raw on the cheese, and raspberry or citrus on the diesel? If it were me, id mix em up lol except the raw and do like raspberry grape on the kush or something is my vote :P

you use em throughout the grow itll tell you on the bottle

Got two of these SGS-160's coming from Area-51. These newer 5w LED's will replace my older 1W technology....Even though I do up some nice buds with them, I've always gotten 1/2 a zip less per plant with LEDs than my 400w HPS. These 5W with lenses will give me much better penetration. Did I say the LED's in these are made in the good ole USA?

Nizza, that very interesting and thanks for putting that up here. When I think back to some of the 18/6 veg's I did it does bring back memories of some really good tasting strains.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to jela10 again.

Merica!

:0)

Electrical Consumption: 120w Veg Mode; 155w Flowering Mode (actual draw -/+ 5w)
That is why I expect to be growing with LEDs in the future.

Thanks for sharing.

I agree with the dark period. I have a low wathage veg box but the plants look less stressed when they have a night.
I tried the 12/1 lighting for the 2wks veg under the big lamp this run, and I saw no difference from 18/6 & saved 5hrs of lights on per day

I can't give it to anyone....

Jela, how big an area do they cover?

and have u grown with LED's before?

I mean like a whole grow?

Watt thanks for that advice, I will give it a try, I have some plants now that are starting to ripen....

Wow jella those look like the shit man. I have and ran one of the 1st gen led's that had a mix of 1 & 3w diodes a 350w, and they ran at full pwr. I had to keep it at least 14" above the girls. I really like the looks of this lamp. Counted the diodes so @ 160w draw the 5w diodes are running at about 1/2 power which will keep it cool,& it will last longer & I really like the use of white diodes. White is every color and is closest to the sun's spectrum. With this one you will notice that it will need to be raised up higher from the crown than the 1w UFO. If it were me I'd start at 18" and work my way down, I'm guessing you can get it down to 12" without any bleaching.

I also played around with the very 1st 6w diode 180w unit. It had no heat sinks, fans or housing. By the end of a 12hr run, it had softened it's wiring panel and was sagging like a sway backed horse. It was nothing more than a fire hazard. I still have it thinking I'll do something with it. I got it free yrs ago from a hydro store,,,,, they wouldn't sell it to me, they didn't want any liability if I burnt my house down.

I do believe that LED's will supersede HPS and you may have one. Really looking forward to your results .

Who any 160/150 lamp will only cover a 2x2 area effectively. Now the discussion goes into depth of penetration.

Depth of penetration is a good subject, That's why i got an HPS with an umbrella cover, seems to me having the bulb sideways is a waste of the back side of the light.... right now I'm lighting a 4x4 area and I think I'm doing well...
