Mini split and 8in hoods...Running a 2k flower room now with a portable ac and already thinking about how I'm gonna cool my future 4 k room...mini split??
you can run a closed loop system with ice box's on each of your hoods and a water chiller.planning on a completely sealed room!?! i'll have no way to exhaust 8in hoods hell...i have 2 6in hoods exhausted through a 4in dryer vent i installed through my brick wall to the outside. i have 2' x 4' glass block windows in my future room but no idea how i would exhaust and still keep it on the DL that way. don't exactly wanna advertise or attract unwanted questions
I'd love to see that setup when you're done with it. hope you post it. never seen oneyou can run a closed loop system with ice box's on each of your hoods and a water chiller.
Once i move and redesign my grow i'm implementing this so i can have a truly sealed flowering room with co2
andetc…
Bla…
is its 95 out side here, and I cant keep the rest of my house cool. because I cant pull any more amps from the breaker box ! all breakers are full.
Bla-bla…. only relief is takeing a cold bath ice cold.
AndSame boat. I need 150amp panel stat. I can't even plug in my stove/fridge.
^^^me too. gonna be looking at hiring an electrician to run a new line and and upgrade to 200 amp service
Its still in the designing stages but i plan on starting a thread of the construction and development.I'd love to see that setup when you're done with it. hope you post it. never seen one
while i appreciate the lecture you are assuming i have no idea about electricity or wiring for that matter. i am not a master electrician by any means but i know my way around a breaker panel and when i am pulling my max from my box. i wired most of my house myself. i'm just not able to run a new line to my house from the pole! by the way i am running ac for the house along with 2 12000btu window ac's for the second floor along with my 3000watt grow room plus ac for in there and all the other household shit thats always on. i've done the math and for me toexpand my grow area to what i want i have to upgrade my boxand
And
First off, if all the breakers on your panel are full, that does not mean you are Maxed out on amps Example: 20 amp kitchen circuit, has ZERO load, except when you run Micro/or Coffee maker
Second off what you non electrical growers, need to do is get a balanced load on your whole house. Houses are single phase 120/240 vac with lets say a 100 amp rated panel
The 100 amp rating, is for connected load to the bus of the panel/sub panel
100 amps X two [two phase] = 200 amp of single phase power
So on one phase you can have 12,000 [ok by code 80% of 12,000=9600 watts]
So technically, if you take an amp probe, and measure each leg of your house, for you to have not enough power, to run your grow, youd need over 9,600 watts per phase. So are you telling me, your grow house that is being serviced by a 100 amp service, which is good for almost 20,000 watts continuous load is not enough power for you? You need to get your loads balanced first, before you invest in a new service
Personally, Id just pop out a two pole breaker out of my service [that is full of breakers], run that two pole to the new 100 amp sub panel [$55.00 at Lowes], and run my grow to this new sub panel which I have mounted right next to my service
Get an Amp Probe wrap it/clamp it, around one of your Hot legs on your service, and check your actual total amp usage You will be surprised
Good Luck with the heat and first, amp probe your load, and then balance it

I have DTE where I'm at and they just recently installed smart meters around here. In order to take advantage of the off peak hour rates you have to have one of these meters.... so I was pretty stoked when they installed it. I had the old lady call DTE a few weeks ago to get the scoop on this, and the guy she talked to explained it like this:I'm in a basement also so it stays nice and cool in my room.. I did run ducting to my room though. If anything it helps drop the temp at lights out to make it like real dark time..
I'm assuming most of u run your lights at night like me?
I got on consumers website and what the peak times are and electricity cost at those times.. running from 7pm to 7 am has helped my meter not just explode I think..
Also how many have the new digital meters courtesy of conSCREWmers?
Consumers Energy offers a similar program designed around electric auto and there hybrids for the owners benefit . I signed up last year and save $40 a month at minI have DTE where I'm at and they just recently installed smart meters around here. If normal rates are .10 cents a kwh, you will only pay .05 cents per kwh during off peak times (7pm to 11am) but the kicker is you will pay .15 cents per kwh during peak hours if you switch over to this program. I'm sure it would still be a money saver to run the lights at night, but you get whacked with a 50% increase during the day for any electricity being used.
