Nice Stone! I've said this before but you are the best plant trainer I've ever seen. I've used the 5qt (1.2g) Sterlite "Handy Pale" from Walmart numerous times, lately on a mother plant. Once I threw a runt into a "Handy Pale" and placed it in with my larger bucket grow. The little "Focker" rocked a nice cola .Those pics above are my current coffee can hempy mainlines. Here are my previous hempy scrogs I was talking about in the 1.2g Sterlite Handy pails.
White buckets are fine as long as they are not the least bit opaque. If they let light through they will cause algae growth in a best case scenario, root fungus and rot in a worst case. I have used black buckets before with no problems, once the canopy fills in the heat absorbtion is minimal. I am currently using folgers coffee cans and coffeemate cans wrapped in foil tape. So far so good.
I would add in the perlite vs. coco discussion that perlite is as inert a substance as you can grow with. It does not contribute in any way to mold or mildew nor any root zone insects. My buddy grows in coco and is constantly dealing with white flys. I have great results with perlite and seen just as good results with coco so it really ends up being a personal preference I think. Watering difference is pretty much negligible, maybe the difference of a day or so. My last grow was in 1.2 gallon perlite buckets and all 3 yielded over 2 oz each with the largest over 3oz under a 250w hps. Slightly over 7oz with a 250w is pretty good and shows just how well the hempy method performs. So you can really push plant size with smaller buckets using the hempy method. These current coffee can hempys are just a summer experiment with mainline training I'm trying. Averaging about 3 days between waterings right now so even with the smaller buckets I'm still right around 3 days. Love the hempy method and wouldn't want to grow another way.
I agree on the buckets, that's why I mentioned taping them with a few layers of duct tape or spraying that FlexSeal on them.Nice buds Stevie and Stone!
BTW, I am sure that you meant
White buckets are fine as long as they are not the least bit transparent.
Take care,
JD
I fear that his situation is grim, but for how long is the question....our stupid laws are absolutely ridiculous, to lock up people for growing a plant while serious criminals walk free, time for a revolution....boycott the cotton industry as they were the fuckers that fabricated lies to make hemp illegal.....tell every politician that you will actively campaign against them and their party, if they do not support legalization, or at least decriminalizationWhat is happening with Moebius?
Goodweekend yall!
There is no doubt but that the fix is in, as far as this matter goes.to lock up people for growing a plant while serious criminals walk free
First, looking good so far my friend. As far as your flowering question, I have seen various opinions. Some say as soon as you switch 12/12, some say as soon as flowers begin to show. I have a tendency to lean towards as soon as you switch to 12/12, but that's just me. I would be curious what seed banks consider "flowering", since they usually put flowering times in their descriptions. If they say 6 to 8 weeks, does that mean as soon as you switch to 12/12?My plant showed first signs of preflowers on July 2, so it's been 18 days
I believe she's still in the preflower stage or should I now consider this the flower stage?
What makes it be considered as the "flower stage" as opposed to just preflowers?
Sunrise 5:31am Sunset 9:10pm....but I've lately been moving them into a darkroom from approx 9pm to 7am........just can't fit 12/12 into my life schedule. That's how I've done it, mature plants will show preflowers in veg so it's not too helpful. How much dark are you getting?
My bad for not realizing you meant outdoor. From just growing my simple outdoor vegetable garden, I would say probably within a few weeks after the "official" day of summer (June 21st or so). I have noticed my garden vegetables all began to "flower" (as in grow actual vegetables) right around the beginning of July or so....Sunrise 5:31am Sunset 9:10pm....but I've lately been moving them into a darkroom from approx 9pm to 7am........just can't fit 12/12 into my life schedule.
I did this last year, and 10 hours of dark was enough to trip it into flower mode....so I'm hoping it works again this year
