Saying goodbye to Windows 8

Windows 8 is bullshit and I think they need to offer a damn recall and repair the glitches while reverting it to something worthwhile for those without touch screens

I haven't used windows for years now. Linux all the way, no problems, no slowing down over time and it just works as long as you have compatible hardware, eg graphics card.

It takes a bit to learn and I am still learning every day but I would never go back to windows!

I use Ubuntu 13.04.
You do realize that Ubuntu is just a Mac without terminal right?

When I bought my new laptop a few months back it had windows 8 on it and I didn't even attempt to use it and reverted back to 7 ultimate. Microsoft also made it a pain in the ass to revert back to widows 7 from 8 by hiding the GUI. You also have to update the bios when you revert back, otherwise you will run into hardware issues. What is even worse is the way that they decided to confuse everyone with the new desktop layout and if you're not familiar with hot keys you will be lost. There is a fix to bring back the old gui for 8, but I cant see anyone wanting to do that.

i think more than 70% of people on riu use ie
That's craziness.. even I, super Mr untech man of the year, used ie for about an hour years ago when I got my first computer and already hated it and was looking for an alternative..

no but i must use it in order to figure out support questions sometimes but either than that no. why would you think that?
Was just curious if you did. You said 70% so I was curious if you fell into that percentage.

You would think that all the issues people have with it they would use a different browser...

If you are super mr untech man of the year then I have to be super untech runner up man. lol.

I agree about ie. Never liked it.

I like chrome. It works best for my internet needs. Seems like I get a lot more ads than I used to when looking stuff up with chrome tho.

my dad got a new laptop. It has win8 on it. He's been having a hell of a time learning it. It's kind of funny watching a damn near 70 year old man try and figure out a new os.

I think its funny that I help with support questions and am not a mod. I guess since its my profession it just happens that way. I do love what I do though.

Oh wow, that os isn't even remotely operator friendly. My family are still using 7 and I'm over their house fixing their computer at least one a month. If I knew they would pay I would charge them.

I know they wont though.

Edit: I'm not going to change it, but what I wrote up there^ isn't even proper English.

well theres a current issue with ie 10 and vbulletin systems the enter key does not work vbulletin is supposed to fix it, but it seems almost any browser issue or site problem with directly related to ie 10 since its NOT compatible with vbulletin

Lol.. that makes me feel a bit better..
I have learned a lot over the last few years.. I have a techy friend who used to post here a lot who helps me, but tech support via text isn't all the easiest to say the least..
Plus a few others from here hold me hand when needed.. curious2garden has helped tons.. neo knows his stuff as does see4, and I learn a lot from reading sunni telling people what not to do, so that helps as well..

There is a string of code (patch) that should be entered in to fix the problem with IE10. Should solve the issue if people really need/want to use IE.
