Any computer nerds that can assure me that all laptop usb ports are the same/universal? I THINK they are but I just wanna be sure before I order new ports. Mine on my computer broke.
they physically broke. I would rather buy the whole port because that way I know anything I plug into it will fit right. I had problems before getting a connection. I had to wiggle it constantly and today an internal piece in the port and little metal connectors broke. So as far as I checked ill have to re soder it to the motherboard.yes they are the same but is it your IC for the USB ports that has gone bad or the ports themselves have you tested with multimeter yet.....
Oh you said broke did it physically break off or not working when you plug something in?
Good luck with that.... let me know how that turns out, k?they physically broke. I would rather buy the whole port because that way I know anything I plug into it will fit right. No pic....cant see the pic ? freakin riu. they need to fix the picture thingy. theres like 3-4 ways to upload pics but only one way works..its a pain in the ass when I try to upload pics too
Your avatar is like a poster child of what a comp nerd would look like. Is that you? (good answer by the way)for your needs, i suspect usb 2 will be just fine. usb 3 gives users 2 main benefits, one.. a slight speed advantage, and 2, the ability to have multi drive capabilities on the same port, meaning you can have a usb3 device set to be a "Mass Storage Device" on first run, and then immediate turn into "Eth over USB" device.
i suspect you wont be needing all that "jazz", so usb2 is just fine.. just pick up whatever is at your local bestbuy.
dickkkkkkkkkkkkkkGood luck with that.... let me know how that turns out, k?
No pic....
useless info? way to send someone in the wrong way. Im not a nerd but im not dumb. dickProbably cheaper and easier to replace the motherboard. Unless its just a case usb connector.
With those powers of observation soldering a wave soldered mb is gonna be a real treat for you.dickkkkkkkkkkkkkk
they do make a splitter for USB. Don't know if/how it affects power output.also Could I just put some sort of adapter to plug in to my only working usb port that makes it 2 usb ports? My only usb port left is 2.0.
I know how to solder genius. It doesn't take a rocket scientist. Just a steady pair of hands and good eyes ...and ofcourse the know how to work a soldering iron. Jackass. If you have to ask this question you should not be soldering things to your mother board.
Yeah I just ordered one of those. Real cheap $2.60 for a splitter that turns 1 usb into 4 ports. Hopefully it works as I also do not know if it will yet. Though I would still like to replace the other two broken usb ports. Im having trouble finding them on amazon though. Does anyone know the proper name for it?they do make a splitter for USB. Don't know if/how it affects power output.
