We have looked for life nearby but to no avail, and Unless there is alien life extremely close by on a cosmic scale then they, just like ourselves WON'T be able to see what "currently" is happening.
Light travels quite fast but the vastness of our universe is unfathomable to us, just too big to think about. Anyway if theres planets with other life "relatively close" on a cosmic scale we can probably see them see with telescopes but we would see what was happening billions or millions of years ago. Just like if anyone was looking at earth RIGHT now they probably wouldn't see any buildings, maybe some dinosaurs or early humans maybe, far enough away and they won't see the earth itself, so unless aliens are EXTREMELY close to us, which i dont think there is as we have not found each other, then we wont know aliens exist until millions of years after they started to exist.
Also the universe is expanding so adding to the original point that, how if there not really close to them we can't really see whats happening "currently" its also quite unlikely find other life for a long time unless its very close by.
I think theres lots of other intelligent life but far, and far far away.
Sorry for the sincerity I just quite enjoy Astronomy and Cosmology. lol... Bet i've bored the shit out of all of you lot
