FreedomJerk, how come you can't spell "worst" ??

And Rob Roy, as usual your post appeared on my screen as "Blah blah blah", my apologies I can't reply with something more substantive.

Awesome Idea

Would come in handy if we were ever invaded

My state could leave the Union and side with the enemy
So is the union of states a perpetual thing and people are bound to this "voluntary union" forever? How is that representative of a "free country" if people aren't free to disassociate?

That would be like you keeping your wife (the rubber blow up doll) in a marriage even though she wanted to leave. You wouldn't do that would you?

That all depends. Some people think that keeping persons in a "UNION" against their will was an act of treason by the Union forces and federal government. If the United States was a real voluntary union of independent states, it is logical to assume that a state could leave the Union. If the ability to disassociate is blocked the principles of freedom have been rejected.
I've seen foreign economists and social scientist say the only way we avoid a disastrous fall is if we split into a handful of countries. I saw a map suggested by a russian prof, I'll see if I can find it. Interesting take from the outside looking in.

edit: found it

I was hoping for something more acerbic. I've come to grips with your lack of substantive replies already. Have a nice day.

What goes up must come down. Borders change. Heck, continents move. I think I'll move to the next Pangea.

That's where direct democracy comes in. It's not a republican STATE where people have little to no say, it's a form of decentralized socialism that uses direct democracy.
Sorry, you don't get to make up your own definitions.

Hiring guards and building barricades to shut down an unmanned open air park is spending money that otherwise wouldn't have been spent. So this wasn't part of a shut-down, is was an expenditure designed solely to harm the public to win political points, as are many other acts undertaken by our "glorious leader".

I suspect we'll dissolve into much smaller pieces than that some day in the distant future.

I knew that map was old, I remember when it first came out. I still find it interesting how a Russian prof sees the division of our country. I don't see KY, TN, SC, NC or WV living by what laws and regulations would come out of the northeast coast or vice versa. Neither Utah or Idaho fits with the left coast either. It's a decent guess coming from the other side of the world though. Of course many of ours predicted how theirs would end up much more accurately.
