"It" was supposed to be a "safety net" so when somebody slips while climbing the economic ladder or walking the social mobility tightrope they dont splatter on the rocks far below.I thought the "point" was to provide a base platform (albeit, fragile) which allows one to "do it themselves". But what is it ?
Can you define it for me? It's too vague of a term considering it is a pronoun.
"It" has become something less.
"It" is now more of an economic moat full of effluent. when you fall off the ladder while attempting to scale the walls of the economic castle, you land in the moat, and are unable to climb out due to the steep sides and the spikes and broken glass embedded into the top rim.
once trapped in the welfare moat, all you can do is splash around in the filth of your "betters" while they jeer and sneer from the battlements and occasionally throw shit on you.
this is how The Great Society/War On Poverty was designed.
for all their lies and assertions that evil conservatives are keeping everybody down, it is the LEFT that builds barriers to entry and sabotages the attempts of the poor to climb out of the filth.
conservatives love to see other people do well (unless they are "doing well" in direct competition with themselves...) because those now affluent people will buy shit from the businesses and industries of conservatives.
it is the LEFT who sneer and make cracks about "Trailer Parks" and "White Trash", while they hide their equal disdain of poor minorities behind a facade of liberal sympathy.
"It" should be a certain point which no american should fall below, with ample assistance for those who wish to climb higher, and ample "positive reinforcement" for those who are content to lay on the bottom for a while, followed by a cattle prod and shock collar for those who would rather malinger on the dole.
instead "It" is a shackle, a plantation, a trap for the unwary or unmotivated designed to snare as many victims as possible to ensure that those on top dont have to face to many competitors in their Zero Sum Game view of prosperity, a view held ONLY by the leftists.
