Hey I'm sure either no one will answer or I'll get bitched at, but i need to germinate these seeds and don't want to use the paper towel method, and uncle bens guide was very good, just can't fucking find it... Really should be a sticky...

I like things to be easy, iv read the different threads on the subject just to read the crazy shit people to to germ a seed, I plant em, cover em with plastic wrap, put em on my water heater for 2 days and then admire my sprout. Dunno why everyone tries to get scientific about it these days

1 day in a glass of water using distilled water, and approximately 2 +-2 days in a moist paper towel using distilled water as well. It's 100% if the seeds are alive.

Yeah, I don't know why people make it so complicated either. I stick my bean in a PH'd rock wool cube then put the rock wool cube in Plagron Grow. I bury and slightly cover the top of the cube with the Plagron in a small starter pot. I then stick the starter pot in my grow cabinet under full light. A few days later I have a healthy seedling. Works everytime.

Germinate in soil, I never for the life of me got why anyone germs in towells. The pop them in a towel and stick them in soil and say "3 days later they were up"! like it's a freaking miracle! And meanwhile in the wings newbies are killing beans by the handful fucking with tender 2" long root radicles.

Put your seed in a small pot with damp, premoistened starting mix, put the seed 1/4" deep, give the surface a few spritzes with a spray bottle a couple times/day, put a CFL real close for heat, maybe some saran wrap if you can't spritz at ideal times (but get that shit off immediately when it breaks the surface) and guess what, you should see seedlings coming up in 3 days... a miracle.

Edit: Most problems with germinating seeds and getting the plant up through the first week of life is due to too much water. Causes damping off, mold and mildew problems, and a lot of seeds and seedlings just rot. Moist + warm = excellent. Soggy + cool = guaranteed problems.

Paper towel method works wonders. I always get 90% germinate rate. If it's not broke why fix it.
Il take 98% success in dirt or rockwool over 90% in a paper towel any day. The dirt wasnt broke but everyone decided it needed to be fixed by using a paper towel instead, read the threads and you will notice how many people fuck it up. Set it n forget it

I use a cup of water until they crack just a little bit and I can see the very tip of the root. Then right into a cup of dirt. I use the cup of water to see if it's going to crack if it doesn't in a cup of water it probably won't, that's my experience anyways.

I don't know how people plant those 2 inch tap roots. I plant mine earlier to avoid those. If it opens in water it will gladly do the rest in dirt.

For me this is mainly due to my impatience I don't want to be digging into a cup of dirt to see if the seed is doing anything. If it's got the tip of the root it's pretty safe, gives me peace of mind. I have killed a few seeds, but that was by putting them in a humidity dome in jiffy pots. Killed every single seed.

Heat mats work wonders as well. I germ in a starter dome in a peat pellet on the mat. I usually soak the seed for 24 hours in a shot glass of water first. Never had an issue.

I put the seed in the medium (soil, rock-wool, peat plug, etc) with pointy end down......apply water..... place in dark warm environment.......wait until it sprouts......place under light source

I use an old modem as my heating blanket.....does the trick

We should start a club "screw all the hocus pocus" club....

...put the doggone seed in a rapid rooter, rockwool or plain dirt for cryin out lout....if you got a heat mat, better still... beyond that, any/every other unnecessary step is just to ease your paranoia over loosing that $10 bean...

If you want to try an amusing social experiment go to your local hydro store and ask what they think about Jacks classic. Or ask if they sell it. I spent $10 on nutes this year was given a started box of hocus pocus that I use to prop a fan up with lol.

Gotta agree, I have some buddies who want me to pop their seeds all the time and always ask how I do it. I tell em a cup rapid rooter and dome with heat mat.

the fact that you can go to a store and spend $100 on one bottle of partial nutes vs jacks that you can grow very successful with for $10. Of course jacks is for non organic gardening though.

never figured out why people want to handle tender seedlings by using the paper towel method. sow directly into soil. less handling equals less chance of a fuck up.
