Hey, im new to this forum, wanna start off by saying hello!... Ok heres what im wondering, i have 4plants that are 3 weeks old that are under a 175W metal halide bulb and 2 43W CFL bulbs. I have the MH bulb about 7inches away from the plants and the two CFL bulbs are on the side.. What distance should i put the MH away from the plants? and is it enough light having the 175W MH and 2 CFL's?

Put your hand between plant and bulb. If it is too hot for your hand, it's too hot for your plant. Raise it till it doesnt burn. 175w should be fine for Veg, not sure about Flower though.

1-2 feet for MH.

uhh...no. unless they are seedlings; i work with a 400w mh and i have it about 1.5ft away right now, but my plants are seedlings...when they are flowering; it gets as close as 6in away from the tops with no burning issues. if you keep your 175watter 2ft away from your plants, they are prob gonna stretch like crazy.

Thats a good test lower wattage HID can be closer to the tops of the plants. You can always add those extra CFL's they will love the extra light.:peace:

I adjusted the light about 1 foot away from the plants, but this morning i went to go check on my plants and noticed that the top leafs on one of the plants the one directly under the light were wilting and not looking the healthiest, what could of caused this? the tempature is at about 83 degrees. You think its to much heat? I posted a pic but its from my phone and not the greatest.
