sounds cool PF. Have you seen how commercial dishwashers work?
the waterline basically ties into the sprayer manifold, which is like a T coming off the bottom and top of the dishwasher. The nozzles are positioned so that they propel the T like a helicopter , maybe you could design a way to do this! maybe take one nozzle on each end designed to push it and the res be designed to mist, if you add fins to it , it may also act like a fan and may aid in air circulation / root penetration

Thanks, but I no longer spray roots. Just looking for a way to improve aerating my rez.

HOT5

I cleaned/changed rez. With ~ 2-3 weeks left, I am beginning to flush, dropping from ~ 1500 v ~1000ppm

Still waiting to pull the trigger on adding the second Wave Point Coral Wave, which has near blue + far red

LED

Roots are now well established. Clones are fattening up, some new leafs. I pinched the buds on top, at least one is bifurcating

Bought a new tote + a mandrel + 3" hole saw to make 6 net pot bubbler

New Clone Pics

New tote ($5.50) big enough for 6 @ 3" net pots

Clones are beginning to develop very nicely under the 2 ufos

The runt may not make it. I did not have a net pot spot in the other tote, and it suffered a number of insults. Moving it this morning all the roots fell off.

First clone pic was only 2 days ago. I just hooked up new tote 1/2 hour ago

I may well need to raise the plants closer

About 10 days ago (I would have to look back in my posts) I replaced a 2900 with a UVL Red Life- >630nms) the tops of the colas nearest the bulbs started growing again.

Took it and another one out this morning and replaced with one Q 2900 and one more Coral Wave

Hey now

Clone Tent Update

About an hour ago I plugged in 2 LED tubes; 1 20w NW/5000k closet to the ufos/plants + one led tube 18w WW

I wasn't expecting anything, but just looked and the new primary leafs are reaching up

DOH, it well could have been that the ufos were too far away to hit the leaf's sweet spot. Plants would stretch, but not necessarily leafs. I put the ~ 4" shim under the tote

This is for the tea brewers. In case you did not know https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LhQveypfAk
^ I have been researching spirulina growing and this might work in a tank setup.....thanks for the idea.

I have a question about the Halo's, you're using to water. Do you think they would work in a pulsed situation like soilless medium? By pulsed I mean turning the pump on [soil-less] 1-2 times per day for 5 minutes or even less. Would they stand the chance of clogging up in that situation with root growth?

Really like the idea of the halo's, but I have never ran a full reservoir system before. Not that I can't, just one step at a time, thanks for your thoughts.

HHs do clog (I pull them every 3-5 weeks to clean), so won't work unless you have a fine pre-solution strainer

I don't understand your pulsing question, but if running it in a tea the inlet will clog

OMG

I should know this, especially after what happened in the led tent with leafs reaching up...

Late yesterday, I pulled 1/3 UVL Red Lifes and one Q Grow (pos #1 so, the far outside of the fixture), replaced with a Q flower (pos #1) and Coral Wave.

Damn, ~ one hour later leafs are reaching up. This morning, buds are much fatter

Update

Significant changes after lighting adjustments 48 hours ago to both clone tent (leds) + hot5 donors

FYI: hot5s get an undue bad rap for penetration, likewise leds. Note the purplish photo buds are 18-19" below the bulbs. Far from popcorn. The snapped stem in the background is > 12" long

This s good news for those of us who mix spectrums. when the bulbs are too close (~ 6") the various spectrums do have a harder time mixing together

Update.

Clones

Fresh nutes ~ 350

I used wire wrap to pull the ufo face angles closer to better aim at the clones

I have trimmed roots a couple times

I also removed the 4" riser underneath the tote

Clone tops are larger than a soft ball, and as you can see, quite full

Root mass is ~ half as big. Evidence that large roots aren't the be all end all, as well as the postulate that you should not trim roots

HOT5

Just rolling along. Since changing some reds for more blue buds are fattening up - getting rounder

Will lower light time by ~ one hour

It appears that the buds are still growing nearest the hot5, so I'm thinking too much blue from having 2 Coral Waves. These may be best used only a short period each day, but I do not have a separate o/o switch for them.

I replaced one with a Quantum Flower and will monitor, as I am otherwise < 10 days from harvest

Edit: I decided that another issue might be nute ppm still too high for this stage, so heavily diluted rez + raised the hot5 panel

Black Friday Update

~ 6 weeks since first pistils

Although all 3 are same F1 pheno, the one on the right has mostly brown pistils, and is closest to harvest

IMG_1946.jpgIMG_1947.jpgIMG_1948.jpgIMG_1949.jpg

Clone Tent

It's been ~ 7 days since turning on one 4ft 20w led 5000K tube + one 3000K (18w)

Keep in mind only ~ 2ft is actually shining on the plants

HOT5 (No pics)

Weather has been cooperating YEAH. Mid 70s day, high 60s night

Dumped nutes. Fresh ~ 90ppm for near final flush. I will keep diluting until ready to harvest- ~ 5-7 days

Clones (top shot)

Foliage is full, full, full

Root ball pic. Each is slightly large than a baseball

No, they are not growing in an opaque container. This is just to hold them while dumping old nutes

Pulled first plant today (pic 1 & 2). Moved it in tact to the closet. Will give it 24-48 hours darkness with minimal water. I have no idea whether it improves quality, but it doesn't hurt, so...

IMG_1956.jpgIMG_1957.jpg

There are a number of potential reasons why she is so small- F1 pheno, almost completely light blocked by Melanie, and farthest from the pump (I think I need a bigger pump for 3+ HH Rings), also I need to improve HH Rings position. Roots not getting full delivery of nutes, much better on the other 2 plants

As you can barely see, Melanie's canopy covers >90% of the entire 2 x 4 tent
