Interesting read:

http://gma.yahoo.com/marijuana-toke-mold-insects-manure-112248829--abc-news-health.html

For caregivers this seems to me to be a helpful thing if they are growing in a clean environment but it also can give power to maybe shut down a caregiver?

Thoughts??
This is a very slippery slope.
In Canada the new MMPR has very stringent quality criteria. You need every batch tested, and not just thc/cbd ratios. You need mould, bacteria, and heavy metals tested. This requirement is very costly and eliminates a lot of small fry.
The west coast in the USA is now looking into what they will be imposing.
This probably will be a huge issue for everyone.

I think testing is a good thing. I did find this quote kind of ironic though ....

"Every other medicine out there is controlled and monitored for quality and not administered in a smokable format," Coyle told ABCNews.com.

Sure, oxycodone is "tested and monitored" and doesn't have to be smoked .... and it still kills thousands of people every year. I will opt for untested weed with a little bug poop on it over the synthetic pharmaceutical crap that people have been swallowing for decades.

Just a step towards big money control. Small growers will get crushed by big conglomerates. Just like alcohol, first its failed prohibition followed by over-regulation / taxation.

Maybe I should just go back to my opioids with it's clear addictions and side effects, as it is not only "clean" and "affordable", I do not have to worry about the threat of Schedule I felonies, forfeitures and use of force. Then again, once marijuana is "clean" and "under control" it may then be considered a Schedule II Narcotic slung at "rehab facilities" all around this country and covered by health insurance to boot. Anyone know how to grow opium poppy? Or am I getting the wrong "message" from our "Government"

I actually looked into it, there are two strains that will produce the type of opiate your talking about. Search around you'll see there are people growing them!;-)

I'm still waiting to start counting the hordes of people the herb has killed, with or without incidental impurities.

I know you were joking, but poppies are surprisingly easy to grow tbh.. the real problem comes in with the numbers needed to get a recent amount of product to really do anything with it..

. But back to the op.. this is so retarded it's not even funny.. having been unemployed! I sit around and watch a lot.of day time TV, and if ime commercial isn't for the newest cure all drug, the next one is from the law offices of Joe blow asking people to.get in on a class action law suit for.people who just took the last cure all drug and now are either dead or.so eff'ed up they wish they were dead..
Or just listen to the long list.of.side effects of.some of these RX drugs and I'm surprised people are actually willing to risk their health and life taking them.. but yeah, w/e could possibly be on responsibly grown cannabis is much worse.for you, alrigjty than..

The way its done here in Spain is the way forward I reckon. Normal people set up associations like a small business and hire people to farm for them. Everyone's a winner,

Smoke - Eat - Sleep - Repeat :D

It would be funny to see a commercial about weed. What it helps with and the side effects, they'd be there for an hour explaining the benefits and then when it came to side effects - none!

Lol, that would be awesome.. :)
But seriously you ever listen to some of these commercials and than they go on for like a minute explaining how drug x can potentially cause fatal heart attacks or ur penis to fall off, and if you stop taking it, your balls will definitely swell to twice their size and turn purple .. it's beyond crazy imvho..

Lol.. I like how nightmares directly follows red hive like swelling possibly in the sex organs..

I see the legislature and everyone before it talking about the importance of testing for mold. I see the testing labs claiming that most of the samples they see are contaminated. I don't see an epidemic of illnesses and infections stemming from our mmj program. I know the mold tests are only visual checks. I know plenty of foods have a certain acceptability rate of mold.

I'm not claiming I know having small amounts of mold in bud is harmless but it doesn't appear that it's particularly dangerous and I've been presented with no evidence to the contrary.
