I just got a letter, saying Grand Jury Summons :(
It's been so long I forget how I got out of it last time any ideals ?

I did write up a letter saying: I think the court systems is a bad joke and that I do not agree with the laws of this land, I just live here. If called on I could not alter my beliefs at the order of the court. Juror ID ***********
Ended with: You really don't want me on a Jury...

But have not sent it in yet... I really don't give a fuck about the court or there bullshit, If someone comes at me or mine I don't use the police or court I handle the problem myself what ever it maybe, so way should I be in there circus ?
the best way to get out of jury duty is to be a felon :p

When I was a yoot, I was all about getting out of it. Now that my hair is greying, and I have learned how to walk down the mountain and fuck ALL of the cows, I would love an opportunity to be on a grand jury. It's your chance to let your local DA know how the people in the community feel about some things. You could help a lot of people, and possibly expedite the legalization movement. Go, report back!!

If it was in Sacramento, I could give you a great sandwich shop, just 2 blocks from the courthouse, and they have free parking for jurors in the courthouse parking lot. Enjoy your opportunity to participate in our judicial system, this doesn't happen in most countries of the world, the Gov doesn't decide your guilt here, the people do.........."USA!"USA!"USA!"...........

Easy on the USA USA, JJ. Justice in the US is pretty skewed. Big money gets away with murder here, literally. It's not much better than the bribe countries.

I'll take our justice system (flawed as it is) over any other I know of...........

how often do you get asked to sit on a grand jury? its grander by definition isn't it? I guess if you didn't want to do it you could just make something up. but you might have to appear depending on your states laws.

most of these suggestions would land you in jail for contempt of court.
Meh, most courts are deserving of contempt.

Of course, this is coming from one who once walked out on his own jury trial after having his 1st amendment rights violated by a judge up for re-election. I knew the jury was coming back guilty.

I won the case on appeal, but of course never recovered my legal expenses.

Is a grand jury and a jury the same thing? I know one is grander than the other , but really?
no.... a grand jury is what the bitch ass state or feds go to first to see if there is enough evidence to indict you... a jury is what will render a verdict at ur actual criminal trial if you take it to trial and choose a jury trial... in il. u can choose either a jury trial or "bench trial" for bench trial trial the judge acts has the jury {I would never do that unless u got the judge in ur pocket} :p

Yeah always baffles me when people choose a bench trial. I think it's crazy how few jurors know their right to jury nullify also. If there's no victim there's no crime imo. Jurors not only have the responsibility to determine guilt but also to evaluate the laws themselves.

Hard to argue that. Especially as a white guy.
Idk about that .. how many other countries have you ever been arrested in?
Just because we think our justice system is the bestest in the world, doesn't make it so.. and until I have some experience getting arrested in say France and Germany and Belgium so I can compare to my lovely experiences here in the greatest, not , us of a, I'll with hold.my judgement..

Racerboy. Ask Amanda Knox what she thinks about Frances legal system and being locked up in it for four years. On appeal French judges only look at procedual and technical errors and takes into no consideration new evidence. Oh and the prosecutor was a hybrid of detective and district attorney. Nothing conflicting there lol.

Umm, in america, they say you're innocent until proven guilty but often times sit in jailfor well over a year before ever seeing a judge..
Just saying..

I'm not saying our judicial system sucks, but how many of us have ever been arrested else where for a point of comparison? Granted, there are a few countries I won't go to for fear of prosecution, but saying that, I've also been thrown in jail, no less than twice, for possession of under a gram of cannabis, and one time the amount was .04 grams.. .04, yet to jail I went..
