I am going to say it out loud, I hate the fucking Salvation Army

And especially that fucking Bell. Goddamn noise pollution !

I have worked at a Salvation Army building in the past and what a bunch of assholes they were.

I prefer the Goodwill, a much quieter bunch

the salvation army has helped me in more ways then I can count. truly great organization, one of the few charities where you feel like the people actually care about you and aren't just there for a paycheck

yeah they helped me too. but they are such shit heads. they one way they helped me free clothes and house wears from the dumpster. why go to walmart when you can get the same thing for free. thats up untill they start putting their dumpsters behind gates. fucking pricks. you know they are going to throw out good things. but no you can give it to someone for free, yet your a christian organization.

that's because they are there to help people, their pay is the worse in the human service field. I'm glad they could help you.

i refuse to support the salvation army.

my mom was holding hands with her wife and we were all walking in the mall my mom and her wife walked up to the SA change thing went to go put a 20$ bill in there and the lady looked at her and said "the salvation army doesnt take donations from your kind"

we no longer support them but choose to donate somewhere else

The Salvation Army hates queers. Big time.
There are much better and less annoying charities to give money to.

My house burnt to the ground back in '93. All that was left was the clothes we had on,(and, surprisingly,my 1st bible that somehow survived without a scratch).Unbeknownst to me,one of my neighbors called the salvation army, and by the next day the SA sent a truck to my parents house next door.It was filled with clothes, food, and toys for my kids.
I donate every time I see their red kettle.Wouldn't be right not to.
Merry Christmas

That's their donation page. Not their home page.
The Salvation Army is a non-profit organization.Us giving to them, means they give to others. For all the good they do,I can tolerate a little bell-ringing.

Understandable. That would piss me off too. Apparently their mission statement doesn't apply to all their volunteers. It says they're to aid "without discrimination".
It's a shame really. From my perspective,of your online persona, they lost a great resource.
Glad to hear you're still donating elsewhere.
Merry Christmas

Yeah, I know. It sucks. But consider that some of the better charities/organizations have boards packed with old folks. Institutional thing. I have found that bad ideas don't really change, but people with bad ideas eventually die like the rest of us. So what I am suggesting is that you not give up on these organizations. Make your voice heard. Drop in a note. Write a letter. I support the Scouts but I also raised a ruckus. They are going to do the right thing, eventually.
