I would top her and start training her. I'd also wait to bump the nutes to 50% strength. Forcing them down her throat won't do anything but cause problems. If you see growth slow or her lose some of her green luster I'd bump it.

top her already? I don't think she's big enough for that just yet. I was planning on doing lst once she's grown to 5-6 inches tall.

I mean I guess I could wait on bumping the nutes...I just don't see any harm in bumping it to 50%. Growth already seems to be slowing and I don't want to wait till leaves lose their color. If that's the best way to do it though then that is the way it will be done.

it's hard to count the nodes because of how bushy the girls are. i can hardly see in there lol. i'm probably going to have to top a couple times though if i want to make it to a 7 gallon pot before the plants get taller than 12". i want to start training through the screen at 12". you have any ideas for when to transplant/how long it'll take to veg em out in 7 galls? like i said before electric costs caught me by surprise so i'm trying to estimate how long this is gonna' take.

oh and i was wrong. growth is NOT slowing down lol. they reacted well to the nutrients again. however, i think i'm going to go the route of feeding more nutes until they look like they need less, then adjusting accordingly.

the slower one is catching up. she's bushing out real nice and even grew taller than the other. i even had to raise my lights for the first time! thought that was pretty cool...my first light raise, ha. they're both about 4" tall and i've got the light 2" above em. things are going great i am happy

this is the first time i've had a hobby which i enjoy this much. growing is so therapeutic...seriously. this has really put a positive spin on my life and what good timing as times are rather tough for me at the moment.

They do look a little early to top. I do NOT think they need more nutes, that much I am positive about. The color looks fantastic so don't fuck with them. If they are growing slowly then hit them with more light or increase temps. Fine to go low 80's during veg, especially if you have co2. Just keep the nights warm as well.

In terms of topping, I wait until I see a good set of 4 branches that I want to become the four main branches of my scrog. Then cut pretty much everything off below those 4 and clip the top. As those 4 shoots grow, bend the tallest one down to keep them all growing evenly. I don't know what your finish height is but, on those four branches, I am clipping off the new shoots for the first couple-three weeks.

Basically I am growing a plant with four big branches and keep them pretty bare except the growing shoot. This will make those branches THICK. Now, when I have about 3 weeks till I flip them, I don't trim anymore and the new branches grow out of the main stalks quite quickly. Under the screen, each of those four branches is trained to the corner of the scrog screen and the new shoots full in the inside and edge portions of the screen.

Your basically growing a lollipoped tree. I read about this scrog training method in the west coast masters book. It was very methodical (the rest of the book was utter newb info ). I can say this, the lack of having those long skinny branches that start at the base of your plant and struggle to get to the screen really makes a difference in bud size. My last round I had two grand daddy purps which are well known to have fairly average yields. I vegged for about 7 weeks in hydro and trained them perfectly. I just dried all my harvest and I got 2.20 lbs off of those two plants that each had a 600 under them. Zero popcorn. None. Zilch. Everything that came off the plant was good enough to be included in the grade A bags. Now THAT is a good feeling.

ok, you guys got me. no nute increase lol. increasing temps promotes growth? i just went up there to check on my girls and it's 78 degrees in there. i like it at that temp.

hmm...i've been trying to research training plants for a scrog and i like what you've written here. i think i might go ahead and use your method. maybe later on down the road you could point out 4 nice branches and help me make the right decision? i want to start training them into the screen at about 12" tall.

holy shit dude is that grow posted somewhere on here? if you got 2.2 lbs with 1200 watts from an average yielding strain then i damn sure could pull 1 pound off 800 watts with blue dream supposedly being a heavy yielder. rep+ to you dude..i bet that was a good feeling.

There's lots of ways to train. I like to top earlier or use LST to force branching and then tie them bitches down. Bend a growth tip so it has a node or two above it and watch the hormones redistribute.
I generally add people back bc I don't see the harm but it is kinda weird to just come out of nowhere. I like when people send a message or have been talking to me.

The 'camel hump' tie down could start as soon as the top of the plants can be tied over the side of the bucket..I forget how high your buckets are if you posted this info(I'm high)..

I tie them back on themselves. I have a clone I'm mainlining that got rooted like that.
Its a good way to help manage stretch on lankier strains. I'll be doing some really sat dom plants I a small space soon that should feature some interesting height control. Topping at the 3rd week seems crazy but I'm hoping for a 100 day lady.

the ladies are looking nice, and starting to smell like weed! duck told me this may be due to negative pressure so i will resolve that issue. however, it's still nice to smell some herb on the girls lol.



multiple roots are coming out the bottom of the pots now. does that mean i need to transplant soon? i just watered last night so tomorrow would probably be a good day if they're ready. let me know what y'all think.

Wait a couple more days at least. Any roots that come put will root prune..which is a good thing as it will stimulate more root growth

I had a feeling my plants were ready for a transplant then rory told me they were probably ready...that convinced me to do it last night. I successfully transplanted them into the 3 gals and honestly everything went much smoother than expected. They each got exactly 26oz. Of water which produced a little bit of runoff. I figured I didn't want to water too heavy since they would probably experience some shock from the transplant. I also chose pure water instead of feeding even though it was time to feed. I think I made the right decision but I suppose we will see once they recover.

That looks like it was ready. Protip for next time: Fill the new pot with media around the old pot, then wet that and take the old pot off and stick it in. The roots will dive right into the wet media.
