What are your thoughts on a basic income?

I think if you run the numbers you will find logging timber far more fatal than ensuring "freedom".
Now that you know this I certainly hope you think they are more deserving...this deserve list should add up rather quickly.
Show me the numbers of how many people were injured/killed by logs in the last 10 years as opposed to death/injuries in all 3 wars that were started by America for no reason...........I'll wait.

You're totally missing the point. Why does Tim Tebow deserve more pay than someone who pulled 3 wounded soldiers from a firefight, while being shot at? Or, ANY soldier for that matter? Because he looks good in spandex on TV?
I am not missing the point at all. It takes a special kind of person to be a soldier, they know what the pay is and what the job is; then they sign accept it. Same for a teacher or police man or woman, firefighter ect...of course Tim Tebow (wtf ever that is, admittedly, I don't watch sports except for cycle racing) draws his pay from the private sector, which means he pays the military already.....

It's my job to fight for what they are owed, while they are busy fighting for us. Don't be stupid. Of course they KNOW what they sign up for.....that's part of my argument. They KNOWINGLY accept the risks of being maimed, shot, blown up.... They deserve more.

Its your job to fight for what YOU THINK or FEEL they are owed, and it has zero to do with pro athlete's pay, that being private and all.

When one makes 120 million - ten thousand people lose. What keeps that one from swallowing a shotgun? The guilty don't feel guilty, they learn not to.

Shows up with last years numbers. Say's he's too lazy to show me a bigger spread. Socialism may be right for him.

Military, bottom of the list; lowest number of fatalities....me Socialist? Maybe think about that as you dictate who deserves what and by who's authority.

Yeah I thought the socialist comment was way off the mark. I may be wrong but you don't strike me as a socialist. But what do I know, I am from africa and we all stupid here apparently.

That's just fatalities though. It doesn't include all the cancers, psychological problems, missing limbs, loss of hearing and various other conditions that are service related.

Grant Langston doesn't seem stupid, nor anyone else in Africa imo....I reserve the stupid label until someone actually says or does something stupid.

I'll use some of tokepreps logic here if you don't mind. I'm sure you don't.:

Most loggers are dumb. I'm sorry if that offends you.
None taken, you can still be sorry though as you think of everyone that died so that you may wipe your ass today.....maybe not very noble but hey neither is war without proper declaration.

So we know that military fatalities in 2012 were low according to your link. And, logging deaths were at an all time high....

And, although I think those young men and women out there fighting to keep our forests clear cut for cash have a very noble occupation, somehow, it's not exactly the same as fighting for one's countries liberties.

Not to mention the fact that you left out any/all numbers pertaining to injuries suffered by soldiers.

You know I do know lots of ppl who joined the miltarty for financial gain, pensions, benefits, GI bills, sign on bonus's ect. ect.

Don't see anyone fighting to increase Cell Tower worker pay......Farmer's pay; wait is that deserving nobility?

Your whole point is pro athelets deserve less, military more. One is private; one is public.
A pay decrease for athletes might mean cheaper tickets or television packages; t-shirts ect.
A military pay increase means higher taxes....before you suggest higher taxes for me I suggest you donate 100% of your own resources to your cause before trying to convince anyone else of your plight.

You know lots of fucked up people.
Your really edited that? Yes I know of lots of fucked up people. I almost joined myself, they made a great offer since I scored a 97 on the ASVAB.

Anyone joining that doesn't do so for financial gain; that is on principle alone, bravo. I seriously doubt those people care to have a pay increase, since that's not why they joined. Continue to eat the rich tho don't let me be a speed bump.

False. My point is military occupants deserve better pay/benefits - period.

Wealth is compensation for risk. People who are working on a factory line are taking on no risk--they just show up and get paid a market rate for their time. The person who built the plant by mortgaging his property who is also tasked with selling the product to cover all of the expenses takes on all the risk. If the product fails, the workers still have all of their pay, losing nothing; the owner loses everything he invested in the venture.

Anyone can be an owner but it's quite difficult and success is actually quite unlikely, so most people choose to work for pay instead. People who avoid risk don't deserve to be compensated for it.
If wealth is compensation for risk, then yes, in 2012, loggers were fucked. But, in the last 15 years...soldiers have been fucked harder.
