Lobster is $4.99/lb here ($3.99/lb in the right time of season with the right market conditions)....you can by it from guys in trucks on the side of the road or in parking lots..... lol
Where are you anyway? I thought you were in BC? Now I'm confused...are you in the maritimes?

I hate you. I just bought a 22 oz lobster tail for $27 and a 16 oz Rib Eye for $12.

That's what I get with my EBT!!!
i just fish for crawdads, costs me ~$1 in chicken livers and i get a bucket full of "almost lobsters".

Humans ARE predators. Biskit is advocating that we act like predators and kill some seals.
Humans aren't predators. Try going on a hunt with just your hands and teeth. If you happen to catch something, eat it raw like real animals do. Put an apple and dead raw bloody animal in front of a lion cub and a toddler.See which causes a salivation response for whom.

Humans are apex predators. We didn't evolve claws and sharp teeth, we evolved large powerful brains. That doesn't make us less of a predator. That's like saying chimps don't really eat bugs because they have to use sticks to get at them. The ability to use tools is a huge evolutionary advantage.

"The human, with its high intelligence and systematic use of tools such as hunting weapons (i.e. rifles, falcons, and hunting dogs in contemporary history), is arguably the world's most successful apex predator."

This article actually refers to humans as 'superpredators'. We've caused the mass extinction of so many species it's not even comparable to other predatory species.

What about the "cries of the carrots"?
Rev. Maynard once spoke of those...

I've never had crawdads but I'd certainly give them a go.... they look delicious.
my auntie used to fold steamed chopped crawdad into her cheesy biscuits, and hid a big chunk in the center of her hush puppies.

they are also great in gumbo

Real predators don't get cholesterol problems. I can feed a rabbit sausage and it won't touch its vegetarian diet. Within a few months you'll have a dead rabbit. Just because you can eat it, doesn't mean you should. Animals of lots of different specie will eat improper pleasure food and die of nutritional induced ailments. Humans are one of the few, if only, animals who modify behavior based on morality over their own or specie's good. Or we can become the greatest destructive force this planet ever spawned. It's up to us. If we reduce our impact, which includes a proper population density size, to that of any other animal our size, with no interference, eventually Gaia will fix our problems on her own.

So basically you're saying that in your personal opinion you disagree with the scientific community that humans are predators regardless of the evidence.

I think you are confusing predator with carnivore. Black/brown/grizzly bears are a prime example of omnivorous predators. Polar bears are prime examples of carnivorous predators.

The definition of predator is an animal that naturally preys on other animals. Humans demonstrably prey(ed) on other animals naturally as part of our diet.

humans are omnivores, designed to eat anything we can catch.

our digestive systems are far shorter and less complex than ruminants or browsing herbivores, but considerably longer and more complicated than that of true carnivores.

other critters with similar digestive tracts: pigs, bears, all of the great apes, some monkeys, rats etc..

horses will sometimes eat rodents or other meaty critters, and all predators occasionally browse on foliage.

if you wanna live on nuts and berries thats fine, but i gots to have my beefs porks and chickens, or i may have to start hunting for the sweet scrumptilescent flesh of the local vegan herd.

their population is getting out of hand, and they may need to be culled.

Humans aren't predators nor carnivores. We can become gaurdians or parasites. So far we're mostly parasites like you, Doc. We only care about our pleasures. If we humans were to magically slit our wrists on a Jim Jones suicide extinction plan, most of what we did would quickly vanish like we never existed.

Humans on an all-meat diet dodge the current horsemen of the metabolic apocalypse: obesity, cholesteremia, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. These are actually brought on by a carb-rich diet. (Details? Read Gary Taubes' book.)
We have a predator's metabolism; now why is that?
And might it explain some of what you view as moral dislocation? We truly are what we eat.
