'Generation Z' Are Nothing Like Millennials, Professor Warns Liberals

That's the sense I get from my niece and her first cousin, 12 & 14 respectively. They seem to have no compassion. Of course, they're still too young to think much about politics.

Are we entering the Post-Cognitive Age?

There's no retirement for folks my age!! I spend just about all my income on housing, food, and insurance. And my grandpa who retired at 65 still had to deal with people.

'Generation Z' Are Nothing Like Millennials, Professor Warns Liberals

As a millenial, is that under 30? Sorry, can't quite keep up with all these artificial labels we put on people. I was supposedly Gen X, but I never liked that label. Anyway, among your friends and peers who also identify as millenial, do they share your sense of involvement and vote? Because...

Are we entering the Post-Cognitive Age?

Assuming there'll be those things. Chances are, despite not knowing your age, I'll be 70 before you are 50. Anyway, you didn't read my post either. Why the fuck would anyone want to have to deal with people for 70+ years? 70 years of dealing with assholes is enough for me.

Okay, let's go back to my original criticism. In a minimal state, Libertarian society, what happens when natural disasters occur? Who protects the people then? What about a disease pandemic? Who protects the people then? The free market? How so? BTW, most libertarians do claim free markets are...

Are we entering the Post-Cognitive Age?

Shit I don't. I want to die at 70. Every 70+ year old I know says everything hurts all the time, and they have less ability to understand the changes to society that they've experienced. Not only that, but 70 years of dealing with people is enough. And if it's a libertarian society 20 years...

But it goes to point out that the private sector and the gods of the free market aren't a panacea.

Are we entering the Post-Cognitive Age?

My grandfather lived to be 95 years old. His sisters, two of them, lived to be 98. From their 80th year to their deathbeds, quality of life sucked balls. My grandfather for years in his eighties said he wished he'd die. Only fools would want to live forever.

And more than likely the younger generation can't relate to you, and if they interact with you, they probably need to do so through their phones. Tech is taking a little more of our humanity everyday. I've got a young niece, I guess she'd be in Gen Z or whatever the buzzword is for a 12-year...

Because the free market gods of the private sector will not insure them is why they had to get federal flood insurance. Despite the subsidies, that insurance isn't cheap.

Are we entering the Post-Cognitive Age?

Yeah, but the 500s, 600s, 700s, and on and on really sucked for all those Europeans. As for absolutes, the NOW is a wash. Better in some ways, worse in others. I think any historical time period could be compared to previous eras in such fashion.

And they do pay highly in insurance. Fox News was notorious for leading the clarion call that New Orleans should be depopulated. At its core, Libertarian ideology believes in minimal government. So disease control would be something for the private sector and profit seekers. They'll do disease...

Are we entering the Post-Cognitive Age?

It's not a given that the future will be better than the past. For example, residents of Roman Gaul and Italy lived for decades in a cosmopolitan society that included robust trade, knowledge dissemination, security, and stability. After the sacking of Rome in 410 by the barbarii, Romans had to...

'Generation Z' Are Nothing Like Millennials, Professor Warns Liberals

Libertarians want a passive government, instead of an active one. In a libertarian society, only the free market and private industries would support the CDC (that's centers for disease control), which would pale in comparison to what they get from the federal gov. With a weakened CDC, a...

'Generation Z' Are Nothing Like Millennials, Professor Warns Liberals

I don't know why MMJ Dreaming and others believe Libertarianism is some kind of panacea. Until the Libertarians explain how such a society would deal with disease pandemics and/or natural disasters like earthquakes, hurricanes, and tornadoes, other than letting the "market work it out..." it...

'Generation Z' Are Nothing Like Millennials, Professor Warns Liberals

I would venture to guess they are apolitical and probably don't vote--certainly don't vote in local elections. Historically, it's been the case that Americans under 30 don't vote with the frequency that Americans over 40 do.

U.S. Economy sucks ballz, & won't get any better

http://eig.org/dynamism Heard a summary of this report on NPR this afternoon as I negotiated irate state troopers and parish deputies searching for a score on the I-20. In short, it says there are good areas, megaplexes like Chicago, NYC, LA, DFW. But if you're in a medium sized city--most...

Are we entering the Post-Cognitive Age?

Have I mentioned the alterations of English, which are already occurring. The LOL-ing and other shorthand devices we've created so as to maximize our time on social media and using our smart phones will become standard English. From its very appearance, this newer version of English is conducive...
