I'm not too big on excuses either. Sometimes there are extenuating circumstances but even then a man should just own up and try not to put yourself in that situation again. I know neither of them, so I cannot make a judgement about either one.

To be fair, it's not just Christians, it's society at large. Nobody wants to own up to their own mistakes. "God" just becomes a convenient excuse for some.
