I'm not topping my plants this time

I watched a recent video with the guy who was the inventor of the Mimosa strain (?).....Anyway, he said that he stopped topping his plants and got better results from it. I decided to try not topping this grow and so far, the results are impressive. The plants seem to "know" what to do if you...

    3 X 3 tent: Updayday 500 watt light? 400 watt MH bulb? HLG300RedSPec? 2X Viparspectra XS1500pro?

One quick note to add about the light....I just realized the dimmer switch is VERY inaccurate and I had the pointer set to what SHOULD have been ~40% of full power.....BUT, when I just tried to turn it up a bit, it didn't get any brighter....I guess meaning that the numbers on the dimmer were...

    Rusting leafs?

Yes, they did! I was very relieved! I had to run a series of waterings with a solution that was extra-elevated (8.0-8.5) until the runoff started to come into compliance. After that, I maintained the proper pH. And thanks!

    3 X 3 tent: Updayday 500 watt light? 400 watt MH bulb? HLG300RedSPec? 2X Viparspectra XS1500pro?

Yeah and the extra cool thing is that the picture only shows a portion of the colors that are on in combination for their so-called "CMH" spectrum. There are four, pre-set spectrums built in, but you can also add/subtract the amount of red/blue and yellow and create your own custom spectrum. I...

    Rusting leafs?

It wasn't too long ago, a guy I knew was mixing up a batch of "super soil" and he decided it would be a good idea to add some organic, 4-4-4 tomato fertilizer. What he didn't realize was that it was also a soil acidifier (didn't read the small print!) because tomatoes like it. Long story short...

    3 X 3 tent: Updayday 500 watt light? 400 watt MH bulb? HLG300RedSPec? 2X Viparspectra XS1500pro?

As you can see, there are lots of different colors.....way more than on any other light I know of. Also, you can clearly feel warmth coming off the diodes if you hold your hand under them -not HID-hot, but still quite warm. I know the plants love that heat, too! Damn! I really love this light!

Just to give you an idea of just how different this light is, here is a view of the diodes being reflected off a bucket of water:

    Rusting leafs?

If the water going IN is the correct pH, then it SHOULD be the same for the runoff....HOWEVER, there are situations where something in the soil mix is turning the OUTgoing water (runoff) acidic. I experienced this -likely from some type of organic compound that was included with the mix I was...

    ph, explain something?

pH in outdoor "dirt" soil is typically buffered by all the micro-fauna that lives in it. Soil-LESS mixes, such as Fox Farm, Roots Organic, Etc., do Not have all that stuff in them. They are basically an inert substrate after about a month. You then have to add fertilizers and maintain the pH...

    Rusting leafs?

I'd almost bet that it's a pH lockout issue. I see it all the time on this forum and elsewhere. For some reason, it is often HIGHLY discouraged from doing a pH check of runoff or doing a slurry test -no idea why. But, I always do an initial slurry test and then I do ongoing pH runoff checks...

    Jacks vs. Advanced vs. Remo

They say that the timing is crucial to getting the most from the bloom booster. In the past, I did what you described and got basically no effect. This time, I'm going to wait longer and allow the plants to get well-established in the flowering phase before I apply it. Plus, I'm only going to...

    Fungus gnat experiment #569

I use FFOF, Roots Organic etc. Many times, they seem to come with built-in gnats. It's pretty common, I think. I have been top dressing my containers with rice hulls to keep the top layer of soil from drying out and also as a preventative to gnats. The rice hulls allow water to pass over them...

What kind of bug is this

potato flea beetles, maybe? I was going to say thrips, too, at first....I would need to see a closer closeup to be sure.

Plants grew too close to light

You could try connecting the ratchet hangers directly to the fixture instead of using the "Y" splitter thing to give you a few more inches. Or make/buy some shorter "Y" splitters.

    Jacks vs. Advanced vs. Remo

In the past, I think I started the bloom booster too early and used it for too long. This time, I am going to wait for week #2 of flower, then mix 2.5 grams per gallon and apply it for two weeks -maybe with some CalMag if need be. After that, back to the regular 3-2-1 system for a couple more...

    Jacks vs. Advanced vs. Remo

Jack's 3-2-1 and Master Blend are the only two I've used. Both are great. I use Jack's as recommended for veg and early flower....Then I switch to the Jack's 10-30-20 Bloom Booster for a couple of weeks while the flowers are stacking and then end with the Master Blend 4-18-38 as a finish to...

Can UVC light be used to kill any mold spores during drying?

I happen to have a very vintage, hand-held, UVC light that I got at a yard sale years ago. It's supposed to be for some kind of medical use, but I thought it might work to kill any mold spores that might be in the air or on the drying plants before it develop further, so I have been running it...

2024 Election Discussion & Media Thread – Follow All Guidelines

I love America. I always have. I wonder how many Americans actually hate America. If I hated (or lived in fear of) my own country, then I'd find a way to move to the country where I would be happy (and unafraid). I, myself, look forward to America's future, now. I think Trump and his new team...

    Botrytis under microscope

To be honest, those pics don't show enough information. The first pic looks like it, but some of the others just look like trichome sap or some kind of hair or fiber. I would need more pics.
