    Led coatings

I've done some research and concluded that Parylene is the best conformal coating for LED PCB. I will not say which type or how either.

    Red light best for budding?

I'd say the best spectrum for flowering depends on who is growing the bud. 4000k with 600nm reds will be more than enough for the vast majority of growers. You would assume around 5% far red from that spectrum, and with newer horticulture whites you are getting the near-uv effects. Besides...

    CRI 70 vs CRI 80

    Correction 234lm/w. Here is that datasheet from Osram: https://www.mouser.com/datasheet/2/588/Osram_GWQSLMS2_HM_EN-3236077.pdf The Osram datasheet says... Photon Flux Efficacy: typ. 3.15 umol/J @ 5000K - Photon Flux: typ 0.552 umol/s @ 5000K The LM301H EVO is 0.56 μmol/s, 3.14 μmol/J - just a...

    CRI 70 vs CRI 80

I notice that both Samsung and Osram are now offering white diodes with CRI 70. The Osrams came out not long ago and are described 'to increase horticulture efficiency' which is 237lm/w. Not sure what Samsungs are at CRI 70, but they are definitely more efficient than the 80's? I was under the...

    Gorilla Glue #4

Dude 500$ is cheap to compared to what breeders pay on auctions... I agree the price is ridiculous, but it's big business to have the right strains and a small initial investment if you want to 500 isn't that much if you can get a phenotype to last you with years of profit ... Most 'premium"...

I hear yah, but supply and demand does that.

I know some diehards that rave about it. Kinda spendy 500$ for a pack..

    Led coatings

So it's 3 years later, any conclusions on which conformal coating is best? HLG mentions in podcast that silicone is not the way to go: 01:03:00 He doesn't mention which alternatives he says is better and only reduce efficiency by 1/10 of 1%? He only says silicone yellows and produces mold...

The science definitely supports the opposite. Terpenes and cannabinoids are higher with LED over HPS.

Changed my driver to double the power but light doesn’t seem any brighter?

Yes, I get that, but what's the catch? Less heat due to less voltage required by each diode? Say for whites, the high bin diode is 2.6-2.65v on the low side, and low bin voltage is 2.8v on the high side. So for a qb648 which has 36 circuits of 18 white diodes (648 18x2.6v is 46.8 vs 18x2.75v...

Something worth looking into is cocoforcannabis' test of 2 x 300w light bars side by side, in array. The coverage is superior to any 6 bar light.

Right on, I will have to follow that!

Do they get hot when you have them at 340watts or full blast? I can't believe they moved to a 0.09 inch heat sink in their newer design with the reflectors... those you have are right around 0.197inches.

    Gorilla Glue #4

Damn, looking good! Can I ask your opinion on the 2 HLG350, do you wish you had a 6 or 8 bar style light?

Changed my driver to double the power but light doesn’t seem any brighter?

I still don't understand how they get away with a 2.3mm flat plate heat sink for that light... The HLG350Diablo that is ? Any ideas?

Changed my driver to double the power but light doesn’t seem any brighter?

That HLG Greenhouse is 1.5m or 59in long. Would probably work really good in arrays over 59in x 59in trays, hung high. Also, I think there are some strains, vegetables etc. which are bred to take to that spectrum more.
