    Trim Jail is Hell

Another good thing is that, even though I did get a lot of leaf trim, it is all very trichome-rich so it's going to make some great bubble hash I think (hope).

    Trim Jail is Hell

Appreciate all the responses! And yeah I would DEFINITELY consider a bowl trimmer or something like has been suggested.....but, this last run, four out of my five plants expressed very sativa-like growth....meaning they produced tons of trichomes on very wispy, larfy type flowers. If I put buds...

    Trim Jail is Hell

I know that some people don't mind it. I didn't used to mind it so much when I had plants that weren't too leafy. I even made a nice, comfortable space with music playing and the whole nine yards.....But, it took me 4 days! My eyes are shot. My back is killing me. When I close my eyes at night...

    Soil pH

I used Jack's 3-2-1 fertilizer salts and I followed their instructions. Over the years, I have used just about every way of growing that was trending at the time. I have never used bottled nutrients because it's essentially paying extra for them to dissolve the nutrients in water and I can do...

    Soil pH

But, if the soil pH is way off, the plants will get sick before they can change anything. This is what I experienced on my last run. If I had waited for the plants or the soil to do what I thought they were supposed to do, I would have lost the entire grow.

    Soil pH

Yep. Agreed. Slurry test is a good thing. I did several on my last run and they all were in alignment with the runoff tests.

    Soil pH

In my experience, Fox Farm soil less mixes can sometimes come with extremely low pH. On my last run, my plants got sick early on and my runoff showed a pH of 4.0. This suggested there was no buffering going on at all, regardless of whatever microbes may have been present. I essentially did end...

Can someone tell me about "Fireballs"?

    Chopped yesterday at 11 weeks!

    Soil pH

If you're using a soil-LESS mix such as Fox Farm or Roots Organic, etc., then you're not really dealing with dirt-soil. Most all of the ingredients in soil-less mixes are inert. Dirt, on the other hand, is full of all kinds of critters and microbes and "stuff" that helps buffer and regulate the...

Is there actual science behind plants having a limited amount of energy to dedicate to buds?

I agree about all the bro science that still floats around, but studies don't really do much good, either, because there are just too many different types of plants and different ways they grow. A lot of these things just have to come from hands-on experience with the types of plants a given...

    Length of flower/ripeness

I have had plants that are fully ripe at 8 weeks. I've also had plants that I took to15 weeks waiting for milky trichomes to develop. There's no way of really knowing anything outside of a ballpark figure and that's because the hybrid lineage is SO complex and deep now. Any number of traits...

    Would you harvest now?

I've dialed in my drying area/tent after several years of thinking that 7-10 days would be long enough to dry.....didn't pay all that much attention to temperature and humidity as long as it was in the ballpark...more or less...I waited for the snap and it usually ended up too dry....I trimmed...

    Led side light supplement grow

Curious to see if this works on several different strains. I've tried some side lighting and wasn't sure if it made any difference because some strains are more "larfy" than others no matter what I did to get more light to that area. But maybe I just didn't hit the side lighting hard enough...

What nutrients should I get for great quality?

I use the Jack's 3-2-1 system...basically follow the directions....success. I think the Master Blend system is also very similar. Both are basically 2-part systems that involve mixing elements separately and then combining them after they are dissolved. For some reason, you can't mix them all...

Old School Skunk, who's found it???

That description doesn't apply to the old school skunk that I used to know. The one I knew smelled like a skunk that had been eating blueberries to the point that it died at the side of the road and then the next day, the sun came out and beat down on that skunk on the road until it...

I think Rollitup is a " Life Line " ( at least for me ).

Yeah when I was researching lights for my "resurgence" into growing after many years, I ended up here and was "led" (pun) to the LED section where I spent many hours reading through the spirited arguments about which lights were the best. It's certainly leveled out since then, but I've also used...

What can be the cause of incredibly small buds

Expectations.... When I first encountered "Sinsemilla" in the mid-1970's, the buds were very small. The smoke was incredible. The terpenes were off the charts strong. When I first encountered real Thai Stick, the buds were very small. It should go without saying (to anyone who was there)...

Can someone tell me about "Fireballs"?

I'm just looking for other people's opinions/expectations (especially Bob, who said it's his favorite). I was actually expecting it to have some kind of "cherry" terpene profile. But, so far, like I say, it's straight cat piss smell in the tent. I know there is a Cat Piss strain, so I tried to...

    Side lighting

I was expecting that, too....but, for whatever reason, the lower bud sites on a lot of different strains of marijuana don't get sent the same genetic message as the upper bud sites no matter what you do. Having said that, I know there are some plants that have genetically-better lower-growth...
