If everyone approached it with that in mind, it would be great. I suspect that many who want to use one are indeed looking for that magic bullet to fix their system problems.

first hydro grow (aero/nft); root rot and rust brown spots!

Dont know what an SB system is, so cant say about that. Check the label on those nutes to see whats in them and the source. Anything that comes from a plant or animal is bad in hydro. I recommend Jacks 321 hydro. I would lower the temp in the rez to no more than 68F. If possible, dump it and...

first hydro grow (aero/nft); root rot and rust brown spots!

Exactly right - nutes dont stain roots. Anything other than pure white is a bacterial infection of one kind or another. By the way, Liquid Karma is an organic based nute. Thats why the brown. Algae/bacteria will grow like crazy with organic nutes. They love that crap. I also agree about the...

    should I quit this girls??----rootrot

Post #20, second pic - nutes derived from algae = organic. Plus plant growth hormones, and most of the other ingredients. They both are chlorine based, but some bleach has dies, and other stuff in it you might not want in your pot. These days you also need to check the label on pool shock...

HPA DIY first system question/ newbie

24 volts shouldnt be a problem. Its just a switch. The only thing to watch is the max amps, and a single aquatec shouldnt come close to the max, but if you are running two it might get close. Yup, thats how the dead band works. You can increase it to some degree if you want. Increasing the dead...

Testing runoff the way you suggest isnt practical in my case. I run AA aero, which causes two major issues. HPA, if done properly, would also have these issues. Early in a grow as much as 98% of the nutes I spray into my root chamber never touch a root. Even late in a grow I have very little...

    should I quit this girls??----rootrot

Id bet part of the problem is those nutes - they have a lot of organics in them, and organic's feed bacteria like crazy. Also, forget teas for the same reason. You are close to loosing them I think.

No, I gave up because I couldnt justify the cost - especially after I realized they can cover up a bad situation. That was back when I was using AN PH perfect, Mega Crop, etc - nutes with rganic components. I was having repeated rez infections and the first sign was always a sudden rise in PH...

    Is this root rot

If you are asking me, then the answer is Jacks 321 hydro. More importantly - never ever put anything in your hydro rez that came from a plant or animal base. Pure salts only. Anything organic just feeds bacteria like crazy. This includes things like hydroguard, and others - which are just...

I may not have time to finish replying right now, but I want to ask if you have seen my aero thread? I already posted a lot of the info you need. https://www.rollitup.org/t/advanced-aeroponics-or-how-to-get-fuzzy-roots-and-be-a-happy-grower.1039452/ I havent run the numbers for your nozzles...

There are lots of filters that can take 150 PSI. Thats a pretty standard rating. https://www.freshwatersystems.com/products/dmfit-filter-strainer-1-4-x-1-4-push-in-200-mesh-60-mic or I like this one because it has the drain valve built in. That comes in handy sometimes...

For over pressure protection you can use a water heater safety valve. They are very reliable. Only down side is they are brass, so you need to have a one way valve in-line before the release valve. There are stainless versions, but they are hard to find and $$$. You also need to plan where...

I like PH swings in my setup. I ph down to 5.5 or so from my tap starting point of 6.8-7.1. Then it goes back up over the next 48 hours to about 6.1, and I PH down again. That repeats with the PH rise slowing down each time until there is no rise for the last 2 days my rez lasts. Im DTW. I know...

    Is this root rot

Nutes dont stain roots. Any color other than pure white means some type of bacterial growth. There are about a million different ones and not all are deadly. Notice in the video right under the net pot - where the water is still bubbling strongly - the roots are pure white. If it was nute...

P.S. be careful as you unscrew the spring. There is some pressure, and parts could go flying, but not a lot.

HPA DIY first system question/ newbie

Ok, lucky I had not thrown it out! Yes, I used a thick plastic nylon washer I cut down to fit to increase the pressure on the spring. The plastic is aprox 1/16" thick. You could also use a stainless washer or two if needed. Here are some pics.

Water in the bottom isnt a fatal flaw. Roots that end up there will just be smooth roots. if you the double tray thing, line the bottom of the chamber with fabric or the roots will just spill through and grow right down to the other tray. They will even grow through the fabric if there is enough...

Worried for my first DWC auto-flower!

Water temps need to be kept around 70 F max to keep bacterial growth down. From what I have read, things start to slow down growth wise at around 60-65 F, so you are a hair low but still ok I think as far as water temps. Room temps are a subject thats open to debate, but generally mid 70's is...

Worried for my first DWC auto-flower!

Your babies look good to me. The only thing I see from your notes is a low room temp and slightly low water temp. Low temps will slow growth. The plus side to low room temps when doing DWC is it helps keep water temps down. The root/water temps are slightly low, but the plus for that is...
