Yeah! It's Bud Worm Season. Pics

I've used spinosad for years. Thrips and whiteflies can't get a foothold and yes, it kills budworms. I spray directly on the buds towards end of the outdoor season. Does not affect taste at all. I do it in the morning so the moisture dries up right away and doesn't cause rot.

    Bud rot

Same here. Past few years I don't think I've seen any worms by doing maintenance regularly. Used to hand pick 'em off before

    Jocelyns potting soil

Haven't heard of it, but holy shit - $40 for only enough for a 2 and a half gallon pot??

1st time grower asking for advice

Don't flush, all it does is starve the plant of needed nutrients to fully develop. Feed up to a week before harvest but do not flush, it's pointless. You have a ways to go at a glance I'd guess 2-3 weeks minimum

    Anyone in Norcal flowering yet?

Mine started finally flowering early/mid August. They are doing ok but with fall weather here they don't get much sun and the nights are getting cool. I doubt they'll be ready until around mid October, hoping the rains and budworms don't fuck them up before then

Spider Mites Still Alive After Neem/Soap spray.

Yup, Capt jack's or other brands, spinosad is the shit for bug control. I had thought Bonide was another pesticide from Capt Jacks, didn't realize it was the name of the manufacturer. I have old spray bottles of it where Bonide isn't as visible as well and a bottle of concentrate, same thing

    The Fade or deficiency?

You don't PH when you feed FF nutes?? Holy shit - Grow Big doesn't really need much adjustment but Tiger Bloom, before adjusting, tests red using a PH kit. I don't PH water though, just nutes so they can be utilized by the plant

Getting close...any recommendations how much longer i should wait?

Why flush? It's been proven it does no good and actually harms the plant by depriving it of needed nutrients. I'd feed regularly until the plant matures.

Spider Mites Still Alive After Neem/Soap spray.

Unless you're growing to sell commercially and your state tests for it, there is no reason to not use spinosad if warranted. I've used it for years for thrips, whiteflies and spider mites, and directly on buds approaching harvest as a budworm preventative. Not sure why some here demonize it

Residue with Captain Jack's deadbug brew?

I have the same thing, thrip damage. You can see them if you look really close, they are tiny and black and are almost shaped like rice. AT least IME I never see them underneath leaves, just on top. However spider mites will be found underneath leaves. I just used Capt Jack's yesterday morning...

What kind of bugs do you have?

    How to accurately measure pH???

Unless your local water is really fucked up, no need to worry about PH. I've never paid attention much to PH except when feeding. Grow Big doesn't seem to affect the PH enough where I need to adjust. Tiger Bloom is something else though, before adding PH up my test tube color is even darker red...

    Is she ready to harvest?

I trim all fan leaves and maybe some sugar ones to get closer to the buds. I cut branches and leave the buds on and hang in a closet on coathangers. Branch nodes are great to hook on the hangers, plus I think it helps to leave buds on the branch until jarring time so they don't dry so fast. I...

    Questions about getting high

Yeah, when I get high I don't really want more than a beer or drink or two. It just doesn't sound good

    Questions about getting high

My intake and effects weed gives me has changed dramatically over the years. Started in high school with the common brown mexican brick weed, mostly sativa loaded with stems and seeds. I did like some of the head highs but hated "heart attack" weed. Decade or so later sinsemilla became a thing...

Is it possible to grow weed with only 1 fertilizer throughout the grow?

Way back in the day (decades) I used the same feed all the way thru. This was back when the Super Soil potting soil was the shit. It was probably Miracle Grow and I could see major growth spurts every time I used it. Not sure if doing this was very detrimental to bud development, because I used...

Question on pruning leading up to harvest outdoors

Yup pretty much what I've always done. Guessing most folks that talk about pruning are indoor growers

Question on pruning leading up to harvest outdoors

What I've been doing is not cutting off leaves, but when they get pretty yellow, I gently tug and if they are ready, they just fall off. I figure at that point there's nothing in the leaves for the plant to feed on. Being outdoors I've never worried about mass pruning, lollipopping or any of...

Question on pruning leading up to harvest outdoors

Every year, in the month(s) before harvest leaves yellow and fall off, a perfectly normal process. Most when all yellow will basically fall off if you touch them. My questions is how necessary actual trimming off leaves is? Sure, doing it just before harvest makes trimming down the buds easier...

    Yellow leaves/bug problem

Plants look fine to me, I grow outdoors and that yellowing is normal as the plants flower. Watering depends a lot on what the temps are where you are. My plants are in 10 gallon pots and temps in the 90's are pretty much the norm right now. In my case about every 2 days when I see the start of...
