That much hydroton needs to be watered from the top until the roots are beginning to show out the bottom of the basket.. Hydroton will not wick up the water needed to encourage to roots to grow down..

I ran across Scottyballs thread 4 years ago and and have been running WFs since then, with great success.. Used the GH FNB until untill they removed the 3% citric acid buffer from their mix.. I've modified my WFs so the dripring in each WF pulls water directly from a common 5 gal separate...

In the meantime, this is the best thread i've found on how to do a scrog screen.. It's also a very good example of what a well run Waterfarm can do, in a simple way.. That grow was done in a cool climate, so no extra cooling was needed.. oh, no air stones. Read it and reap... he's done in 14...

I use a 2'x3' cement mixing tray from HD, 23 gal, $12.50..
