    First grow should I flush?

I did read that test several months ago. Although I also think that flushing is useless, I think the test they did, does not prove that. To prove it (if that could even be possible) the test should have been done on a wider scale. More plants, different brands of nutes, different strains for...

Mini Hygrometer's - can you trust em?

I think you would have to buy a really expensive hygrometer that is really accurate. And even if it is accurate on Monday, it will be off on Wednesday (my experience) I just bought several hygrometers and look at the average. But 100% accurate... I doubt it.

    Co2

Man, do some research! You do have internet, otherwise you would not be on this forum. I also sended you a Canadian scientific paper. So before you post more not-smart answers, use Google. Every serious growshop sells CO2 generators. The link was just an example so you know how they look like...

    Dutch buckets + aero?

One of the (small) advantages with Ebb&Flow is that the water gets in the system through the same pipe as it gets out. The moment the pump stops, the water drains through the same pipe, via your pump, back in the res. When the pump starts again, the water pressure will (hopefully) push out any...

    Co2

Before you start saying nonsense, please do some research. Then you would not have to use the expression 'LOL?'. Read this for example I will even help you what they say: Carbon dioxide can be obtained by burning carbon-based fuels such as natural gas, propane, and kerosene, or directly from...

    Co2

Good thinking, but no. A greenhouse is never totally sealed, so fresh CO2 could get in all the time. It is true that in wintertime they keep 'windows' shut more, to keep the heat in. Ideal for CO2 distribution (they also often use gas heaters = CO2 + warmth) In summer time they often have to...

Low Pressure Aero build...it has begun!

Thanks for the explanation. I will comment a bit (because this is a forum and info might help others) The basics of Low Pressure Hydroponics and High Pressure Hydroponics is that you give relatively short burst of water to your roots. This helps save water and provides lots of oxygen. (just 2...

    12V/24V versus 110V/220V pumps

And what is the max head hight then?

Low Pressure Aero build...it has begun!

How do roots in soil get oxygen then? And oxygen does get in the water by any contact with water. The most efficient way is on the surface of water when this is agitated. But even with bubbles in water there will be an exchange between the water and the oxygen in the bubbles. Very inefficient...

    12V/24V versus 110V/220V pumps

So, if did understand correct (and pleas have patience with me) - A 20 Watt pump on 12 Volts gets the water to the same height as a 20 Watt pump on 110 Volts - A 20 Watt pump on 12 Volts moves more gallons of water per hour as a 20 Watt pump on 110 Volts

    Co2

Commercial greenhouse growers use CO2. It is not cheap, so there is a reason they do it: better yields. For us hobby growers it can work as well. But you have to have a sealed room, otherwise your sucking out the CO2 the minute it gets released. Sealed room means some kind of climate control...

    12V/24V versus 110V/220V pumps

Interesting! I know so little about electricity. Are there also differences in head? I mean does a pump on 12V get the water higher? (or lower)

Low Pressure Aero build...it has begun!

I think with sprayers it does not work like this. The moment the sprayers stop, the wet roots are surrounded by oxygen in gaseous state. How much more aerated do you want it to be? The oxygen in the air hits the water around the roots, turns into DO and can be absorbed by the roots. Plenty of...

Low Pressure Aero build...it has begun!

I don't have a straight answer to that, but will give you some thoughts. * Roots can only absorb oxygen when they are wet or damp. So totally dry roots can not absorb oxygen anymore. This does not mean that the plant dies immediately, because there are some reserves in the plant. So, for that...

Low Pressure Aero build...it has begun!

Why would it matter if there is still lots of water om the roots and cups? Or do you look at it from a 'less energy consumption' point of view?

    12V/24V versus 110V/220V pumps

On the internet I see different water pumps. Some are 12V / 24V and others are 110V / 220V. If you use such a pump in your house, it seems to me that a pump 110V / 220V would be easier. But what is the reason that a 12V / 24V could be better? Are they more reliable? Do they have a higher...

What are your nute PPM levels everyone?

Of course when you are used to ppm (in the 500 scale most of the time) that is easy to use. But if you like to read scientific papers, they will use always EC for example. Also it is an international standard.

What are your nute PPM levels everyone?

A ppm-meter does not measure ppm's in the liquid. If that would be the case, then it would be the best standard. It is measuring Electrical Conductivity (=EC) And this gets 'translated' to PPM. So it in itself it does not matter too much, but why use terminology that is not right anyway? In the...

    The UK Growers Thread!

Thanks, but also those were not the ones that I am looking for It is weird that the US has them, and Australia has them. Heard that there are some in France, but my French sucks big time, so no clue. I would have exprected that the UK - being one of the first countries where NFT was popular...
