I have heard people measuring decent amounts out of these methods but I agree with you. If you are going to use Co2, your elevated levels need to be consistant. Tanks or burners are pretty much it IMHO.

What difference does it make where the co2 comes from? I think the diy methods work, they just end up costing 10X as much if you want real levels in your room. If you want to just provide some, not elevated levels. I don't see why a few of those mushroom bags in a sealed tent wouldn't do the trick.

How are you going to deal with humidity? A dehuey ads heat, which then requires an AC. The old school way would be to turn off venting, enrich the air and hold it until either the temp or humidity go over a set threshold then cycle in fresh air thats cooler and dryer, Then start the process over.
