I use one part Pro-Mix, one part FFOF, and 1 part perlite. Seems to work well.

....You can get a big ass sack of perlite at one of those farm stores like Agway etc for less than 20 bucks.

Yeah thats been my experience when I was running regs. Ya never know for sure but for me, some of the plants that started out so nice and strong sure enough turned out to be males.
