If you want to try LST what worked easiest for me ( especially with smart pots) is to take some coathangers and cut pieces 4 or 5 inches long and either bend them in half, or make a hook around the top Use those to tie it down and work your way around the pot. Later on when your flowering you...

I run 400's and 7 feet away is too far. Do you have glass covered hoods ? If not your better off to invest in them. Your yields should increase seeing as how you ciouldn't do much worse :)
