Is that actual watts, not equivelant watts? If it's actual, I would move that higher, at least five inches but possibly more, I use lower watt CFL's to veg so I can't say for sure. But if it is that high of a wattage you definately don't want it that close.

I agree with the heating pad idea. However with the lights, I would qualify that to say, only keep them a goodly distance if you're using high wattage CFL's, or HID lights. Any lower watt CFL (under 42w), or fluorescent tubes, keep them as close as possible, without touching - an inch or two is...

You can, it doesn't really need the light until it breaks. My own preference though, is to have the lights on - I feel it helps the seedling find the surface easier. Either way you want to do it, is ok.

If you've germinated first, didn't plant too deeply, and the temp and humidity are good, you should see your seedlings breaking ground within 36 - 48 hours.:leaf:

Correct spectrum bulbs are not literally blue and red.;-) You need the correct Kelvin, (6500 and 2700), and changing the visual color, doesn't change the actual color spectrum.

Under the lights is definately better. If you can get your tem,p up to 80F though, your baby will germinate much faster. You can use a soda bottle with the bottom cut off as a humidity dome. Lift it once a day to replace the air, and be sure to remove it as soon as your seedling breaks the...

You have a lot more leeway while in veg, to try out different lighting schedules. I wouldn't change it frequently, and definately not while in flower - but right now, you can change it without a problem. Personally I like the 20/4 - more growth than 18/6, better root system than 24/0. Whatever...

Nope he never said, or if he did at a later date, I didn't see it. The four colas though are getting pretty tall anyway - the tallest is a little over two feet right now. Last two grows weren't topped (failed FIM attempts) and they only reached 3 1/2 feet total. When do they stop stretching?
