Yep go ahead and bury the stem up to an inch below the first set of leaves - won't hurt it one bit. How old is your seedling? You may want to wait a bit longer before switching to the 600w light, because it'll have to be a good bit away not to burn the seedling, and that will cause it to stretch...

Sounds like you're either watering it too much, or have planted the seed too shallow. If you've already had it in the soil for a day or more I wouldn't mess with it now. Gently cover it back up. When you water it again (if it's needed) gently sprinkle the water on, don't pour. Also - get a soda...

Any light socket will work - got an old lamp lying around? That works. Or hit up the electrical section in Home Depot or it's like, those $2 - $3 sockets work just as well.:peace:

You don't want to try and grow with incandescent lightbulbs. At the very least, go to Wal-Mart, Lowes, Home Depot, anyplace like that - and get some CFL's, you'll want them in the 6500K for vegging, and the 2700K for flowering.
