as the person before me said every week you change the res. as your plants use the water (and fertilizer) you will need to add some more. so depending on the nutes you use you will have do do some math

nutrients are stored in stems and leaves so durring flushing you aren't starving the plant you are simply not refilling its "reserve tank" the parts that die are being used up

im a few weeks from harvest with my shortryder...my ballast crapped out right before flowering...i personnaly like the autos i had to switch to 12/12 for my other plants so that probably hurt them too

it looks extremely dark towards the bottom i would try to add some cfls to ballance the lighting out...ant is there any type of reflective material around your grow area?
