Space is definitely a factor when planning how long to veg and for predicting a yield. You can only have a canopy thats 4x4' in your tent, once it is filled it's filled. Vegging longer wont get more yield without providing more space and more light as they grow. For 8 plants in a 4x4' tent Id...

I always heard the opposite, that when youre growing in fabric it is actually equivalent to a larger plastic pot. Since roots dont circle they use the space more effectively and dont get root bound as easily as in hard pots. But fabric breathes more and can dry out pretty quick when it is hot...
