Right but he is saying you don't need rockwool. its nice to start plants in but it raises the ph overtime.
I just use hydroton. $1 for 1Litre of rocks or $42 for a 50L bag.
Rock wool is best found at a local hydro store or better garden centers.
400-600 watt HPS with a nice/easy to vent reflector.
vent it with a cheap DIY inline fan setup, veg clones with your t5 throw them into flower.
make sure your bulb can be mounted at any angle.
I hang my air pumps kinda high so that if the power shuts off its hard to kill you pumps with siphoned back water. You can put an inline check valve but I bought one and kinda never seemed to use it enough to buy more.

250w MH should be fine just to veg a few plant, maybe 6 if the light gets to them.
The beasters I have seen have quite a range and varied year to year with conditions. I have had beaster that I'd label chronic but maybe only a couple times.
Usually sold as mid to high depending on quality.
