The plants in the photos are droopy from being too wet, and they are yellow from hunger. Put a fan to move the air around, will help them dry out. Increase the amount of food you are giving them. Plants should survive.

How can you check the roots daily? If you are determined to seperate: Use a tub of water, and dissolve as much of the soil away to make untangling the roots easier. If you try to play with the roots under water, its a lot easier on the plants.

Always flush when your finished. Leaving that shit there is just gross!

I am not sure you can separate them now, without hurting or killing them both. If their roots are tangled together, anything you do wilI severly stunt them. I advise letting them be, but do it different next time Problems occur when 2 plants compete for nutrients, next time, 1 plant = 1 pot.
