yup it could be the strain... might also be worth trying some Mg (epsom salts) foliar feed for a wk or so... ph def can also cause purpling, but as MJ uses alot of MG whilst its growing, thats your best bet.

Its a problem if you use it straight out the tap. If you are going to use tap water, you need to let it 'stand' for a couple of days to dechlorinate. Chlorine isnt good for seeds or plants, and thats why you should leave it to stand, so the chlorine can evaporate from the water.
