I've noticed a lot of plants, including mine, started flipping around first week of August this year. Usually they would of flipped 1 or 2 weeks into August a year ago.

I'd suggest moving the lights up. You can have the lights up to around 21inch. 12 inches is pretty close, especially if you're having heat problems. 75-80 really aint that bad.

I think there leaf hoppers...they don't do much as long as the plants arn't little sapplings. Pretty sure everyone gets them. If you attract birds to your spot they will keep them in check.

yea, i'd say your right. Still to early to be certain, but 1st one does seem to have the little pistols forming like females do & the 2nd one has that wierd growth that most males do between the nodes.

so, what are the genetics you're runing? I've seen the strain grapefruit have that same pink pistol appearance when grown. Never tried any, but sure is beautiful when grown.

Make sure you spray early in the morning! spraying this late is pretty risky , but do what you got to do. Also, it's a good idea to spray that shit around the perimeter of you garden. :)

bad genetics &/or heat stress would be most likely why.
