OK guys, I couldn't take it anymore. so... I chopped one of the NLX today; the one closest to the HPS. It was by far the most mature with quite a few amber trich's and really yellow foliage. This works great, as the NLX will probably yield a lot more than the Bubblegum which were...

personally mate I'd get rid of the aluminum foil mate. Could be causing hot spots on the bottom of your leaves. Also at this stage you don't need the light that close. What are the temperatures and humidity like? Also what kind of soil are you using?

does this really work? does it just accelerate the rate of trichome maturation, or what? Buds look sweet mate :)

That's exactly what I do with my DSLR and macro lens ;) beats any handheld microscope/loupe.

Yeah they're pretty cheap, but in all honestly you get what you pay for. The glass they use isn't that great, and you have to get really up-close (even touching) the buds to get a focused view.

Update folks! I plucked off a few popcorn buds from one of the NLX (the one right under the HPS), quick-dried them for a few hours and rolled a spliff. I was blown away :eyesmoke: So much so that I gave her a good night's rest then chopped her down before she could see the light of day, err...

I tried a bit of the Bubblegum two days ago and it wasn't ready... Tried one of the NLX (most mature and right under the HPS) and... WOW! even for quick-dried bud I really enjoyed it! ...So much so that i chopped her down :bigjoint: Gotta say trimming was a b!tch! took more than 2 hours...

Here's one from yesterday. Not as close-up and colors are a bit off (taken under the HPS). But I hope I'm not wrong in seeing mostly milky with about 20-25% still clear...? Also there are some trichomes above the middle that appear to have some brown in the middle of the stalks.

no worries mate. Like I said, this is normal and can vary from strain to strain, seed to seed. Make sure that the light isn't so far that the plant has to use its energy to stretch rather than grow, and not so close as to burn or heat-stress the plant (harder to do with a a fluorescent)...
